    Legible Handwriting

Your handwriting was actually very readable...and I assure you mine looks nothing like that, so it wasn't any easier for me to read it than anyone else.

Would you reccomend doing maths extension 2?

Either way, he has already completed 3 units of maths. If he does 4U, he would have completed 4 units by the end of next year, which is only an extra unit of maths for so much work. Ofcourse I haven't considered scaling. Has anyone actually taken into account that he has his whole HSC this...

    General Thoughts: Mathematics Ext 1

You better hope you get full marks, otherwise you just wasted time putting yourself up.

    Practical Dotpoints Issue

Since when was HSC about learning in class anyway? You'll spend more time figuring out how to be compensated than it takes to write and memorise the dotpoints. Plus I'm sure the board will just say something around the lines of 'your teachers aren't the only incompetent ones, have a look at us'.

    Terry Lee Solutions 3U

Any think an 83/84 would amount to 100% scaled? I didn't lose any marks but am quite sceptical that they'll accept some of the mess I made.

Would you reccomend doing maths extension 2?

Well, to be honest with 60% in extension 1, it's probably better you just keep the 8 units you have now. Plus doing the 4U course will only count as one extra unit, but will take ALOT of time which is better spent studying your other subjects.

    General Thoughts: Mathematics Ext 1

    What +/- sign?
  8. T

How many marks have you dropped?

Till now none, considering solutions have not come out yet. Pray it stays the same.

    General Thoughts: Mathematics Ext 1

Yes, exactly what I got. And to the person above me, the result makes sense because h and t are related by a linear function, so the function has a constant gradient throughout, which means equal time intervals result in equal change of height/depth.

Fitzpatrick - is it really that bad?

Oh dear. Fitzpatrick barely has vectors in complex, and all the graphs is addition and subtraction of ordinates.

    General Thoughts: Mathematics Ext 2

I got every question, but sadly made a mistake in question 3, where it says to find the points where the tangent is horizontal. SILLY MISTAKES!!

    Bungee question

Excuse me? If you substitute t = 0 into the equation they gave, you get x = 82, so obviously the displacement function given in the second part of the question already took into account the fact that the jumper had already travelled 82m. So If he's travelled 114m, plus the 2, that makes 116m...

    Bungee question

Glad to know we did the same thing. Please make sure to tell me what you get on the 16th of December, it'll be interesting to compare marks :) Eventually when v = 0, the diver's head reaches 119.5m under the bridge, so he doesn't reach the water...since the water is 125m under. Please confirm...

    General Thoughts: Mathematics Ext 2

    It was: e^(n/(n-1)) < (1 - 1/n)^n < e^(-1). Then it asked for the limit as n tends to infinity, so you take the limit of all 3 parts of the inequality. When n tends to infinity, n/(n-1) tends to 1. So e^(-1) < (1 - 1/n)^n < e^(-1), so (1 - 1/n) ^ n = e^(-1) when n is large. Then the...

Fitzpatrick - is it really that bad?

Are you joking? Complex Numbers and Curve Sketching in Fitzpatrick have got to be the biggest waste of time I've ever seen. The 3U one is good though.

who else is screwed for ext 2 exam

Harder 3U has to be the most interesting one out of all the topics. On that note, HSC mechanics is probably the easiest topic.

    funky question

Check the inequalities exercise in Cambridge, harder 3U chapter. The last few questions are similar to this if I remember correctly. If not, I'm sure one of the examples is similar to this question.

    systematic name

    And ethenyl benzene too, no?

    Neglected dotpoint?!

Mind linking me to the exact page? I can't seem to find it...

    Neglected dotpoint?!

Sorry to bump but it's better than making a new thread...where is this dotpoint found exactly?
