    General Thoughts: Mathematics Ext 1

Lol, 2b) did have an ugly angle. It was unavoidable though. The only numbers you had to work with were 3 and 4 lol. Unfortunately, that question was designed to give a nice A value, but a shit α :P Do you guys think 63/84 is good enough? I need over 80. It'll get that easy aye. Is there a...

    General Thoughts: Mathematics Ext 1

That's what I got... Honestly though, when I did it, and I saw that the times were exactly the same from 3-2 and 2-1, I doubted whether it was correct... There was no time to re-attempt it lol. You're pretty awesome on the 4U forum here, so maybe this consensus means we got it correct? Hope so =]

    General Thoughts: Mathematics Ext 1

Yeh, it was ok. Not the easiest, not the hardest. The thing I found with this exam, as compared to all the past papers I've done, is that it took longer. I dunno why. I didn't get to look at half of 7 as a result. I just quickly did the induction, the derivation of the tan(A-B) in relation to...

Thoughts on Music 1 Aural Exam

Yeah, that really harsh, scratchy, scatty section was the main vocalist. You could hear it. It was the weirdest thing though! How can someone do that to their voice!? Either he was scatting REALLY fast, or he was placing a heap of tension in his voice and releasing the tension quickly which...

Thoughts on Music 1 Aural Exam

For the 3rd question, I dictated the rhythms straight into the booklet. As a result I didn't use the manuscript. I wrote all my notes on the table lol. Like little reminders. eg. Pitch - Melody, Harmony, Tonality. Duration - Metre, Beat, Tempo, Rhythm. Etc.

    General Thoughts: Mathematics Ext 2

I LOVE VOLUMES!!!! I wish they were worth more haha.

Question 1e... What did you do?

It's funny how sometimes the easieest questions can be so hard :S One of my mates in my class couldn't get 1a either. Pretty sure it was just a substitution of u=lnx so du=dx.x which just made it in the integral of u. Exam conditions make everything come undone. Like seriously, who forgets...

Thoughts on Music 1 Aural Exam

I loved this exam too. It was so much easier than any past paper or trial, in my opinion. Can you believe they pronounced Mika M-eye-ka??? I was like "What!??? OUTRAGE!!!!" Haha. Question 1 was weird how they split it up, but easy nonetheless. The BOS seems to be changing the structure of...

Question 1e... What did you do?

Lol, seems as if I fucked up the question lol. Not too much though, so hopefully, I'l at least get 2/4 for that answer. The only thing I forgot to do was replace the dx... Oh well haha.

Question 1e... What did you do?

Hey everyone. I'd be interested to know what people did for question 1e... If I remember correctly, it was the integral of: 1/[x²√(1+x²)] I am hoping I did it right :S I made the substitution of x = tanθ... If I did it correctly, it worked out to be the integral of cos³x/sin²x...

    General Thoughts: Mathematics Ext 2

To be honest, I found the exam harder than the trials I did as well as harder than the past papers I did. Albeit, I didn't do too many... :S Question 1 was Ok. I couldn't get c, so I went back to it at the end and used some weird substitutions to at least get something down. I didn't get to...

who else is screwed for ext 2 exam

That's enough for one day. Goodnight everyone. God I hope today's exam will be ok. I have studied heaps, so the majority of it should be... All I want is an E3... PLEASE!!! 3 exams in the next two days isn't pretty, but on the plus side, after that I have a whole week to study for physics...

who else is screwed for ext 2 exam

To reply to some earlier questions, I have done 3 sets of lectures in the holidays run by the school for excellence. It really helped heaps (especially the most recent ones). If it wasn't for those lectures, and how comprehensive the notes are, I wouldn't understand volumes for example...

    Integration Help =]

Well, I didn't look through his working lol. I know some of these integrals can have more than one answer :P. Chances are, he probably is correct. All I am saying is that I know I am correct because of the wolframalpha's validation on my working, and besides, I am sure the way I posed would...

    Integration Help =]

∫sin(lnx) let u = lnx du = dx/x but x = e^u so e^u.du = dx ∫e^u.sin(u) Through integration by parts I₀ = e^u.sin(u) - ∫e^u.cos(u) [I find it best at this step to realise you need a positive I₀ on your second application of integration by parts, as the negative in this line of working...

    OMG @ the workload

Dw, man. You'll ease your way into it. It's just a bit of a shock now. Consider dropping a subject as well. At least you have this community to support you - there's always someone who can answer a question or two. Also, get heaps of sleep... That was the worst part for me. I have never had...

    Probability Question

Lol, these type of questions always start the most amazing discussions :P I went to seminar for ext 1 recently, and no joke, out of 3 and a half hour seminar, we spend half an hour on one of these counting technique question. There were like 5 different answer - luckily for me, that time I was...

    Probability Question

I've just thought of something else. If you fix red, and then fix the colour opposite, there are four colours left over. Keeping them in the same order and 'rotating' them around the cube makes four different cubes. If you reverse the order of just those four cubes, it will still create four...

    Probability Question

That circle theory, where it is one less than the number of positions, doesn't that only count when order is important? Different combinations of colours have no order because they are different colours anyway. If you have three men and three women in a circle, however, order is important...
