    National Chemistry Quiz

I did the Y11 one. Surprisingly it was slightly easier than expected, but I made several silly mistakes D: Freaking soot

Can you say the word "belonging" in creative writing?

disregard my post, Zeroes has bascially summarised it
  5. planino

Can you say the word "belonging" in creative writing?

nah, it'd be better to not say 'belonging' or it's variations. Also it's better to describe how he came to the conclusion of him not belonging, rather than explicitly stating that your character doesn't (which ever synonym of belonging you use)

    Uni music degree auditions

I dunno why, but I find that AMEB exams are in fact a (stressful and) fun adventure :P The pianos they use for the exams are to die for

    Uni music degree auditions

I have asked myself that question since Y9. My current subjects though still fall within my passions and it's a lot easier to score a career in science/the business world than it is in the world of music

    Uni music degree auditions

Thanks for a much-awaited reply! That's a bit of a relief, cos I thought that you HAD to have a grade 6 qualification to get in. Must improve my technical 'skills' then, so I can focus on expressing myself better

    Uni music degree auditions

Has anybody taken/preparing for any auditions yet? I can't seem to see the USYD prerequisites (I have found the UNSW ones though) for the auditions on its website. I realise that I might need an AMEB Grade 6 qualification to undertake an audition, but I'm only in Grade 5 now (by this time next...

Is taking three sciences too much? Pointer please

Some of the sciences may actually end up helping you with another (chem can help with phys and vice versa, chem can help bio and v.v. to a lesser extent. I don't think phys and bio overlap though) If you end up not liking one of the sciences, I'd recommend economics as replacement as it's...

    Assessment thread.

I'm still thinking about it. Previously I wanted to drop it, but then my interest in maths picked up quickly (but my performance in it didn't). So I'm still thinking about it, at this stage I think I'll keep it cos maths is actually quite interesting (for me) :)

    Piano obession

Ah yeah, and another advantage about teachers is that they can teach you proper piano technique. Improper playing can cause physical and/or butcher your music

    Piano obession

Yes, I meant sight reading (how the hell did that term escape me?) Those are the worst! But I still make simple mistakes (like reading E instead of C) so I just prefer to go over the score, memorise it and then play

    Assessment thread.

^you did fine, don't worry :) Sure beats my 68% in a mind-numbing 3U maths test (btw, love your username)
  16. planino

    Piano obession

Aha I'm in grade 5, but I still can't read sheet music smoothly whilst playing simultaneously :L But it's a skill that's best mastered, so it's easier to focus on carrying over the emotions of the music into your playing rather than worrying too much about playing the right notes. But yeah...

    Violin HSC pieces?

The lead violin's part in the 3rd movement of the BWV1042 concerto? It's quite energetic and lively

    BSc/BComm jobs?

the jobs sound good, but the availability of them seems bleak :( Too bad that what you want to do is often different from what you've gotta do for a (decent) living I might actually look into accounting, even though I'm not a fan of maths (is accounting primarily maths related in the first...
