    INFO1103 Online Component

Does anyone know if we actually need the online component from Java An Introduction to Problem Solving and Programming 6th Edition - Walter Savitch?

Why did you guys choose USYD?

+1 Plethora of arts subjects ranging from some of the most BS to the most interesting. On top of that... I don't have to cram on the bus with 50 other students after a train ride every morning just to get to uni.

MATH1011 Instead of MATH1001 For Engineering.

http://www.maths.usyd.edu.au/u/UG/JM/ UoS Guide: http://cusp.sydney.edu.au/students/view-units-page/did/742 This should help you understand it slightly better. What stream are you in? Some subjects in your 2rd/3rd year may assume that you've studied normal units rather than fundamental units.

This is confusing, course plan 3rd year.

Yeah man.. I really don't know. There are multiple sources from the department saying different things for the same things =\. Best to get a meeting with the degree coordinator.

This is confusing, course plan 3rd year.

I linked the wrong PDF earlier. Its been updated. Also, selected cores are noted here you can see that they've noted 128CP of cores and selected cores but it notes MATH under it which makes it a total 144CP but I'm still not sure if MATH is considered apart of the core or selected core. My best...

This is confusing, course plan 3rd year.

You have a total of 12CP between your 3rd and 4th year to choose other subjects. So according to the rules you need 192CP. 18CP which must be in MATH so you could 4x Junior math subjects (3CP each -MATH1001/1003/1004/1002/1005) to make up 12CP and one senior MATHSTAT subject. Now you have 174CP...

USYD Engineering with 2u maths + bridging course

Most 1000 Math subjects are offered in summer school! Just a heads up for your planning. I'm personally utterly screwed. Maybe some free online courses may be of help? www.edx.org or www.coursera.com or www.udacity.com

This is confusing, course plan 3rd year.

Correct! However.. upon closer inspect of your degree rules (no offense to IT/ENG student but god CUSP is confusing) you may be expected to do it regardless. I assume you're doing B.IT? this is your rule book for your degree. According to my calculations, during your 3rd year and 4th year you...

This is confusing, course plan 3rd year.

Note: At least 18 credit points of Year 3 Recommended units of study must be completed across the year as a whole. You may also need to do another Year 3 recommended unit to meet the requirements for your major. So what they're saying is that you need 18 credit points from Y3 recommended units...

This is confusing, course plan 3rd year.

You must complete 18 credit points (3 subjects) from Year 3 Recommended units(A/B). 12 credit points (2 subjects) must be be Year 3 Recommended A. 1 year has 48 credit points. 1 semester has 24 credit points (4 units of study/subjects * x credit points ea - x being what the unit of study is...

    Serious advice needed :)

+1 to some of the things mentioned such as questions for the exam on the lecture slides. However I would like to mention that that is not the case for all subjects. Especially comparing 1000 and 2000 subjects. I took 2, 2000 subjects during my first semester and the teaching attitudes were...

    Enrollment/Administration mishap.

AFAIK 18 Credits automatically classifies you as a FT student.

Can I drop a course at anytime (before census date)

Not sure about the rules in eng, but most of the time if you meet the pre-reqs for any subject you can enroll in them assuming that your degree and structure allows you to. Eg: if your 2nd year ENG subject requires 12 junior ENG credits then its okay. There are also circumstances whereby you...

    Serious advice needed :)

Media and communications at UTS. I don't really know anyone that has done it at UNSW and from what I've heard its shit at USYD. Arts is pretty good at USYD. Massive variety of subjects which you may want to look at. My friend wanted to transfer from BA to Media and communications but she said...

    Texbooks and the COOP website

Other places to look for cheaper books would be http://www.bookdepository.com/ and http://booko.com.au/ . There are other 'sources' which you might be able to find but most of the time I would make sure that i actually needed to reader for the reading list. Eg: Last sem I onl needed a total of...

    Texbooks and the COOP website

Best way to find out your lecturer google usyd (department) and look for the unit of study list. In your case it would be usyd economics department: http://sydney.edu.au/arts/economics/undergrad/ug_uos.shtml and http://sydney.edu.au/arts/economics/undergrad/ug_uos.shtml?u=ECON_1001_2014_1 Most...
