If you don't really know the content of a subject....

Yeah it's probably ideal replicating examination conditions. When doing a past paper, if you finish before 3 hours elapse, do you continue checking until time is over? Or begin marking?
  2. M

what do you think your worst and best subject in the HSC will be?

Worst: Chemistry >____< Best: Probably Biology

If you don't really know the content of a subject....

Alright, thanks everyone. Guess I've got a bit of memorising to do.

    Omgahh less than two weeks?!?!

I'm never going to feel prepared for the HSC. Last week went pretty quickly though =/

If you don't really know the content of a subject....

Yeah whenever I do open book, it doesn't feel very effective because I'm just copying.

If you don't really know the content of a subject....

Is it wiser to memorise it and then attempt past papers? Or do an open-book test with past papers? Thanks

    Nocturnality

I have no choice but to study at night considering how much of the day I sleep through -_-
  8. M

    Anyone bored of studying already?

    ...Is their marking worthwhile?
  9. M

how many pages do they expect you to write in 40 minutes?

I write about 6 pages and my teachers complain that it's not enough (Also it's not very legible >_<)

    Module B - Speeches

Is it recommended that I study/memorise quotes from each of these speeches? Or will going into the examination with maybe 4 prepared be better? I have not written notes on any of the speeches set for study yet, and was just wondering if I would survive if I didn't prepare all of them. Thank you.

    Finishing School ; S

Obviously ecstatic...But I can't help feeling a tinge of sadness (HAHA never thought I'd say this). I must say, officially finishing school is anti-climactic.

    Ready for the final exams?

Still need to finish my Maths, Chemistry and Modern notes >_> FML why did I leave it to the last minute? After that, I'm just going to do past papers and re-draft my English essays

Do essays need to sound sophisticated/contain big words to get good marks?

I see :) I think I'll focus more on the areas you mentioned considering using "big" words doesn't feel natural to me

Do essays need to sound sophisticated/contain big words to get good marks?

What about the introduction? Do you directly restate the question or is it advisable not to?

School nearly over, how do you feel?

Ambivalent. While I'm very excited to finish High School, I'm also a bit sad about it. Except I'm soooooo looking forward to sleeping in after the HSC.

Do essays need to sound sophisticated/contain big words to get good marks?

Did you ever write with big words? Or just supplement your arguments with relevant details etc?
  18. M

Do essays need to sound sophisticated/contain big words to get good marks?

That's my problem I suppose. I find that when I consciously try to write with sophistication, my thoughts are not clearly conveyed. (It just doesn't come naturally to me)

Do essays need to sound sophisticated/contain big words to get good marks?

Whenever I write an essay for any humanities (English, Modern History etc) I always get comments from the teachers advising that I attempt to sound more sophisticated in my response. I've always gotten the comment that my essays are too simplistic in word choice etc, and I was just wondering...
