Does the HSC determine how smart you are. Discuss.

wat you can rote learn your way through hsc and know how to answer questions well enough to get full marks in 7 or 8 markers

anyone went from bad in year 11 to good in year 12

my jump was year 10 to year 11 although it isn't like year 11 to year 12, i think the same principles still apply. Just apply yourself a lot more and understand better what the courses are asking of you. I also developed a much better study ethic (although i still rely on cramming - it works for...

define what a 'good' atar is and what are your current ranks

    Short Story Ideas

consider being a 40 year old marker reading about teenage angst for the a millionth time though shit gets boring haha write something thats genuinely interesting (can be a bit angsty but don't let that override your plot/feels) (edit: i know this is extremely difficult i wrote about 5 creative...

    Short Story Ideas

this is probably the most repeated advice ever but draw upon your own experiences that are about a particular tension you feel strongly about...the themes given are relatively broad and adaptable so whatever experiences you talk about would probably fit

    Subject Selection

Check the uni course recommended knowledge. You could always pick a variety of subjects if you're really unsure because it does become clearer in senior years. What are your favourite subjects btw?

    2014'ers Chit-Chat Thread

yes but the stress helps so much - like yesterday i was really stressed but i managed to finish quite a bit of stuff bc of the adrenaline the human body is a complex and wonderful thing

Does the HSC determine how smart you are. Discuss.

imo active learning is more about independence and initiative, and depending on your personal goals, it can often encompass engaging with material beyond a superficial level but this be a bit irrelevant to OP's question haha

Does the HSC determine how smart you are. Discuss.

lol have you been to uni before? From what I've heard, uni is much more independent than HSC. HSC is just a mechanism of getting into uni, just like what cub3root said (are you any chance related to SR lol)
  12. rumbleroar

    Subjects

Do the subjects you're good at. So do all the humanities. You'll only get a high ATAR with chemistry if you perform well in chemistry.
  13. rumbleroar

    Mathematical Induction conclusion?

I got my long conclusions crossed out and slapped with "UNNECESSARY" so something short and concise will suffice. The most important is the inductive step, i.e. therefore true for n=k+1 when n=k
  14. rumbleroar

    Technique?

+ 1 personification is when you give something inanimate with human qualities?
  15. rumbleroar

Does the HSC determine how smart you are. Discuss.

No. You're more unintelligent to think HSC is a determinant of how "smart" you are.

  17. rumbleroar

Can i boost my ranking with obly 10% assessment left?

Unless the relative gaps are very small, realistically probably not. But don't let that deter you from doing your best though!

    2014'ers Chit-Chat Thread

memorise paragraphs and know how to adapt them
  19. rumbleroar

Motivation to study and not give up on HSC?

Think of how shitty you feel if you go through trials knowing you could've done better but you didn't because you chose not to when you procrastinated on BoS or wasted your time unproductively elsewhere. Go hard or go home lol

    HSC Journal #13097
