Those inspector series are pretty good to analyse (frost/morse/lewis) or you could try looking at novels by Steve Temple, esp. "The Broken Shore".

I believe that students shouldn't be forced to go to year 12 if they don't won't to be there. They'll only stuff around and cause problems.
