    HSC Physics Marathon 2013-2015 Archive

re: HSC Physics Marathon Archive Questions: 1. Explain why Michelson and Morley expected a change in the interference pattern received by the detector of the interferometer. 2. A circular disc of conducting material is rotating clockwise. The bottom part of the disc is in a magnetic field...

    HSC Physics Marathon 2013-2015 Archive

re: HSC Physics Marathon Archive If you couldn't be bothered learning LaTeX, then you can just use the equation system on Google Docs (https://drive.google.com/), then use http://puush.me/ to take screenshots of it. Insert -> equation gets you started and there's a toolbar for a bunch of...

99+ ATAR- How can you get it?

Why is your English so bad man? You're doing Advanced but your grammar is honestly the worst.

    [DOWNLOAD] My Half-Yearly Examination

I'm pretty sure the current on that first diagram is going the wrong way. If you use the RHP rule - the right side of the coil is being pushed downward, so you switch your palm to make the force upward and the current travels down on the right side, not up.

    Curious.

Not sure, but I assumed they used raw marks (for accuracy) in my above post though. They most likely align everything last. Can't be too sure though.

    Curious.

    Would any of this be correct? Physics cohort: 5 1: 92% 2: 91% 3: 85% 4: 70% 5: 60% Exam Marks | Moderated Assessment Marks: 1: 90 | 95 2: 93 | 94 3: 95 | 90/91 4: 85 | 81 5: 70 | 70 Range: 70 (~50% raw) -95 (~88% raw) = 38%. Range in marks at school: 60-92 = 32%. Therefore all marks are...

    [DOWNLOAD] My Half-Yearly Examination

One thing I've learnt from this: I need to read and analyse questions a lot more carefully.

    [DOWNLOAD] My Half-Yearly Examination

Nice explanation and solution, thanks :) That probably shouldn't have been a 1 mark multiple choice question though

    Damn... I did horribly. 4/11. 1) yeah 2) yeah 3) didn't even think of that 4) you should post the solution :) 5) yeah 6) eh 7) didn't even think of that 8) yeah 9) what? 10) I see now 11) eh

Thanks :) I just realised my calculator was in radians for quesiton 8... wow

How do you work the question out anyway?

    [DOWNLOAD] My Half-Yearly Examination

lol guessed 10...no idea what to do. I'd probably say 6 is D though, i thought it said EMF again instead of force

    [DOWNLOAD] My Half-Yearly Examination

    Tried it: 1. B 2. C 3. A 4. No idea, I'll say D 5. C 6. D 7. C 8. Not getting any of the answers, I'll say B 9. 0 10. A 11. C I probably got 0/11, 1/11 if I'm lucky. Edit: lol isn't Q9 just 0? It produces a net rotational torque but the forces cancel out right? http://puu.sh/2GbKE.png

    Can I still achieve a 95+ ATAR?

Well OP you might be safe at top 10. But 54% at 8/40 kinda shows your cohort might be a little bad, so try and stretch it to top 5 if you can. And that's only half of it, you still need to perform well in the exam. Not sure how Victoria works though. Good luck anyway!

    Can I still achieve a 95+ ATAR?

Were your exam marks better than your assessment marks though?
  16. Hypem

    Can I still achieve a 95+ ATAR?

Given your top %'s and cohort sizes, then your ranks might be roughly: English: 8/40 Chem: N/A Maths: 24/80 Psychology: 4/60 Biology: 17/60 Going off your school rank and estimated ranks, a 95 ATAR isn't looking likely. You're going to need to get in the top 5 for Maths and Biology, and try...

    (2012 paper) Q16 (b) (i)

Not really sure what you mean? I meant they're interchangeable because we're measuring from the origin (0,0) Like the x-coordinate and x-length are interchangeable, and the y-coordinate y-length are interchangeable. Obviously if you changed where the theta was positioned then how you'd find the...

    (2012 paper) Q16 (b) (i)

Yeah I don't really get any of that lol, thanks for helping though! I just realised that the x and y coordinate ARE the lengths and are interchangeable. x-length (or coordinate) is cos and y-length (or coordinate) is sin, and since the radius is only 1 then it's only 1cos(theta) and...

Oh wait, I get it. I just had to think of projectile motion from Physics to understand haha!
