Since the papers can only count b6s for the school ranks most of the top independents (and sometimes selectives)...

That sounds like a stupid system, what if one person does a bunch of subjects with poor quality candidatures coming first in all of them, and another does subjects with good quality candidates coming 2nd or 3rd? Why not just base it off ATAR?

haha you'd hope so It does if you're doing anything other than JFK, Elizabeth and Appeasement from memory, since no other option has more than about 50 people doing it, so every person's results count. On an individual basis, if you're doing one of the larger candidature options, it matters...

a) 97.5 puts you well below the Ruse median b) why are you doing advanced engineering instead of, say, usyd's space engineering if you want to work in aerospace c) good luck getting a job working at NASA as a foreign national, you might be relegated to one of NASA's ISPs or a contractor to NASA...
