Is a double degree worth it?

Hi all, I'm pretty set on going to USYD and enrolling in the Bachelor of Science (Advanced Mathematics), however I'm really struggling to decide on whether I should do a double degree or not. I am trying to either pick between Commerce or Engineering as both interest me a lot both...

    Post your 2016 ATAR here!

Exactly right - If atar notes was anything to go by, a 15/20 in my economics multiple choice really got me by the balls.

    Mathematics Extension 2 - 2016 Post-HSC Exam Thoughts

Those are the Exam marks - BOSTES aligns the raw marks to set those cut offs (the way they do so is not released to the public), so e.g a raw mark of 70 may be aligned to a 90 exam mark, which is an E4. In any case, the best one can do is predict on the rawmark.info database.

    Mathematics Extension 2 - 2016 Post-HSC Exam Thoughts

I would probably say 97-98 honestly.

    Mathematics Extension 2 - 2016 Post-HSC Exam Thoughts

I found it more challenging than recent years from 2013 onward. However I did not find it nearly as enjoyable as previous years where the exam was much more difficult either, all the results tended to be either redundant - 12 b (i for example, which redundantly made the question a 3-unit...

    Scientiffic Information Questions

Thanks for the helpful response! Is there any good way to practice these?

    Scientiffic Information Questions

Questions of the form "Scientiffic information presented in the mass media, by comparison with similar information presented in scientific journals" - where do these even come from and how can I prepare better for them? I can't find them in any textbooks but there always similar questions like...

    Trial Question

I think the easiest way to relate this to syllabus may be to straight up say advances in physics is the basis for advances in modern technology. I believe from the syllabus this comes under PFA H3 "Assess the impact of particular advances in physics on the development of technologies". In...

Why won't selective schools+top private schools have more subject accelerations

Our school does accel. 2U maths only for a "streamed class" whose path to 4U math is predetermined by the start of yr 10. So Basically we did the entirety of yr 10 work in half a year, did all of 2U maths through year 10/11, did HSC 2U last year and as of today actually we are all done and...

    Death Penalty in Creative Writing

Generally this is OK... But realistically dying is thought of as a teeny bit cheesy by some markers. When I was going through the same process in Year 11 - I drafted my stories a lot and my teacher (who is fucking fantastic might I add) really toned it into a classy story without any death or...

    Best Year 12 Physics Textbooks

I have Jacaranda and Physics in Focus... I find Physics in Focus much clearer and up to date, with information much more concise and relevant to syllabus. Other than that I just used online resources e.g Dux College/KISS notes to understand concepts - at the end of the day the key to physics is...

    Where to for economics statistics

Trading economics is very good - otherwise RBA or ABS is best. Often in textbooks, just look out for the ABS catalog number and make a note of it, then either get your teacher or someone else you know with fairly good excel knowledge to search exactly what you are looking for. Otherwise trading...

    Prac Test

Hi all, I have a prac test for physics coming up - what is the best way to prepare for Physics skills questions (Section 9.1 of syllabus) do you think? I have all my pracs set out and detailed but obviously these prac tests can technically be on an investigation we haven't studied... so the rest...

    PhB query

Hi all, my careers adviser and ANU maths professor Barry Croke recently recommended me to go for the PhB in Science, more particularly for maths. My only concern is the category of listed "olympiad achievements" of which i really have none. I participate a lot in school life and extracurricular...
