    Actuarial/Law

i think taking both actuarial + law is a bit of a waste, if ur looking to get a job as an actuary sure the law degree might look good on your resume but that's all it'll do (is it worth the extra year or so?) Also, looking for a job as a lawyer, how would having completed actuarial studies at...

    Macquarie Actuary cut-off

last year it was 95.4 (UAI), so anything around that region should probably get you in. If not first round you'll probably get in by the 2nd round offers; although the faculty advises 97.5 atar so take from that what you will.

    B Commerce - MAJORS?

range? i'm guessing that the range is fairly broad for both strands i.e. you can go into investment banking and the likes. However if u come out with a single degree in finance the job market is pretty competitive and you're gonna have to need something that shines above other people. After...

    Mechanical or Mechatronic

i would have to agree with studentleader, mechatronics might be an emerging industry within the future, but not at the moment

Why is everyone choosing finance with engneering?

im guessing, that to an employer (within the finance industry) a person who has an engineering degree will develop some problem solving and logical reasoning skills and the finance would've provided them with an understanding of markets. By combining the two, people would be able to make sounder...

    Finance electives

^ yeah, i'm probably not the best to comment on this, but i'm guessing the electives you choose now will have a big impact on what kind of financial occupation you'll end up pursuing.

How to become an actuary....... help me

I've read quite a lot about people advising others to do a mathematics course and then going to complete the professional exams to become an actuary. It's easy enough saying that, but has anyone on these forums actually tried doing that? I mean the exams you have to do are professional exams...

    0 inflation?

i guess 0% inflation would be bad as it would mean you have high unemployment and interest rates, which would mean less investment and output which would lead to less economic growth and then a likely recession

    modelling-prac

what are some of the advantages and disadvantages of using playdough to model addition of water to ethylene and dehydration of ethanol, and modelling the ionization of strong and weak acids p.s. doesn't have to be specific to playdough, could also refer to ball-stick models much appreciated

    a question

ok, so for my half yearly for chem there was a question where i had to describe a use of PVC and explain it in terms of its properties. i talked about PVC being used as a container for chemical substances- for some reason it was 3 marks and so i thought i should throw down everything i knew. so...

    what to do- prac test

i guess this is a pretty general question, but i'm wondering how people have/are preparing for their practical task. i've written all my prac reports up- is it a matter of simply memorizing the methods and variables and equipment? ta.

CAD and economic implications on Australia

There's a fair few different questions they can ask you in relation to CAD, most of the time remember how the causes and effects intertwine, with current Australian examples / statistics don't know if that's much help, would be better if u gave the essay question ur preparing it under.

do you have to read the economist to go well in the exam?

i guess, he expresses his opinions of the effects of political decisions and how they reflect on the economy in a very blunt perspective, not being afraid to say what he wants.

    hardest degrees

WHO ON EARTH would want to do combined law/medicine. that's like 10 years in uni. By the time you finish one course and eventually finish the other, the information gained from the first would have probably fizzled over time. -that being said, if the kids who do it got a 99.95 then maybe
