    Predictions for Chemistry 2015?

Anything that hasn't yet been asked? There could be a couple of those obscure pracs that no one ever does coming up (e.g. water prac in CM&M, lawn fertiliser in PoM).

    2015ers Chit-Chat Thread

just wondering, are these predictions reliable? idk, my friends who do science (i used to do chem in year but not anymore) said the short answers tend to be more volatile so it's best to just study everything it makes sense considering it's not like the humanities where there's actual trends...

    HSC 2015 Maths Marathon (archive)

Re: HSC 2015 2U Marathon that is still a bad omen haha nah, but 2u maths isn't too bad if you did your practice (it's mostly memorising methods and applying accordingly)

General thoughts: English Advanced Modules Paper 2

Pretty much this. I mean, having no conclusion to an essay is like saying that you won't draw the third side of a triangle, which is obviously self-refuting. And I remember Crobat (note: he got 96 overall in Advanced English for those who want verification) telling me a while ago that a...

    General Thoughts: Economics

Sorta, but you didn't really need to cite specialisation of labour, so much as international division of labour which is precisely what the short answer question is asking. But dude: >says it's about comparable advantage >doesn't realise such a term doesn't exist >realises it's comparative...

    General Thoughts: Economics

Correction: it's about how well one commits things to memory, not necessarily how good your memory is itself. Like, sure having eidetic memory helps, but there certainly have been people who earned 99+ and they didn't have a great memory, so they just worked really hard at it.

    General Thoughts: Economics

100% agree. That's why, in some sense, I liked the paper, because it differentiated the ones who actually could think on the spot and the rest who just accepted the content without critically evaluating. Guess it shows that whilst the HSC is mainly about rote learning (particular in the...

+1 also talked briefly about the fact that historically, we have a narrow export base and as such, we need to embrace diversification also mentioned commodity prices regressing and hence the ToT went down due to below-trend growth

    General Thoughts: Economics

Does this mean that the eco papers are moving towards understanding the content as opposed to rote learning?

    General Thoughts: Economics

tbh, i'm not surprised this has been the case. with reference to drifting's post last year: to be frank, you should ideally know your all of your content so if you didn't and the topics appeared which weren't what you wanted, it's tough luck and you only have yourself to blame, not the examiners.

    General Thoughts: Economics

bop/cad is still connected to external stability tbh, so you weren't fully restricted - it was all about flexibility, and that's something you can't do with prepared essay plans (as mreditor rightfully said before) OMG YES I DID TALK ABOUT DAT SHIT AS WELL

    General Thoughts: Economics

my thoughts: the paper was okay, MC was eh, but I feel like the short answers was something that would've threw a lot of people off if they simply rote learnt the content as opposed to actually understanding what's going on, which is a good direction for the eco papers as you can't fully rely on...
