EXCEL STUDY BOOKS - are they good?

Despite what others have said, I have the Excel Advanced English book by Lewis and Collins and I find it really helpful. Good summaries, and the belonging section links each text to the concept of belonging really well. Have a look and see if it would benefit you.

Society and Culture or Business Studies?

To be honest, neither will. Legal Studies isn't even required for law. Although the skills you learn in both, such as perfecting essays and such will be. Content wise, I have to be biased and say Society and Culture is awesome. It deals with very modern issues, and is kind of like every...

Advice on what I should do to transfer?

USyd usually has it on their law faculty page that the minimum ATAR cut-off is 97+ (people on this forum have said 98+ before though) in order to have a reasonably competitive chance with applying to combined law. Go with UNSW.

    Belonging Story

It's a 15 marker, so you're aiming for about 900 words in 40 minutes thereabouts. Usually contains an orientation, complication, climax (sometimes) and a resolution. Although, you can start off your story with a complication. Try and stick to one setting, maybe two if you really have to. Avoid...

    PIP ideas. NEED HELP!

A girl at my school did this in 2011. I think its done to death. If you want to do gender roles, maybe reverse it? Focus on 'prince charming' and the changing nature of chivalry. The expectation of men -- saving the damsel in distress? Think of typical Disney PIPs, and then look at their ideas...

Do you need a textbook for preliminary modern history?

My school uses readings, documentaries and general class discussion to consolidate our learning for Modern History. We had to purchase our textbooks. We used Retrospective year 11 Modern History. It was good as it included chapters on the year 11 core (World at the beginning of the 20th...

I possess english essays from the last 5 years for every text for belonging.

The Crucible, Pride and Prejudice/Letters to Alice, Hamlet, Ted Hughes. Any essays on these would be appreciated :) thanks.

Is Society and Culture any good?

It's fun and requires you to think and stay up-to-date with current media and affairs, both local and international. You have to back up your responses with statistics and the like, just like any essay where you need proof. The content is not too difficult, which is a bonus. But then again, it...

    English prelim question

Example: Overall, the text of (insert text here) goes to great lengths (use words such as large, significant, great etc) to prove that belonging is a natural part of the human condition. This is explored through various ways, such as: (re-state your points from body and list the associated...

Tried LOTSA research, now tell me: uni TRANSFER or REPEAT yr12??

There's University Of Notre Dame too in Broadway. I think their ATAR is 90 for law? I heard that Macquarie sometimes take law students who are a few points below the cut-off... around 92-93ish. Put it as a preference still, worth a try. Don't repeat, just transfer if need be.

    Prelim Help!

My school reflected the HSC, but in a 3 hour exam. It consisted of 15 marks worth of short answer responding to texts given, a 15 mark creative piece where we were given stimuli to base our piece on, a 15 mark essay based on our AOS (Self-Discovery) and a 20 mark module-style question (based on...

Doe your background really affect your subject choices?

Guess it depends on the family and their expectations, not everyone is the same :)

Doe your background really affect your subject choices?

I'm of a serbian/estonian/irish heritage and I chose all arts/humanities subjects. Sometimes its assumed that Europeans place a lot of emphasis on science/maths. For my parents and uncles/aunties, this is true as they're all in the medical field. That's not where my passions were, they...
