    Hidden unemployment question?

Wait a min... the question asked whether hidden unemployment would affect/change the unemployment rate

    Hidden unemployment question?

I included a discussion on what the unemployment rate actually measures and that it did not take into account hidden unemployment. Also, concluded the same way in terms of distorting statistics. :D

    General Thoughts: Economics

Of course, I am aware of that. Although I wished to emphasise my disappointment, hence I took the blame on the examiners. :cold:

    General Thoughts: Economics

2015 economics paper is actually very challenging. I have had a look at the past 5 papers and they definitely had questions, for each section, that were more predictable and/or repetitive over the years. This year, the examiners wished to put every damn area of the syllabus that I hated and...

    How to approach extended responses?

With the example answer that I gave for external stability, you just need to mention the opposite happens briefly because the same information will be repeated twice, except the opposite way. You don't want to bore the marker with repetition. But for macroeconomic policies, for each type...

    How to approach extended responses?

I would recommend that you briefly do explain that the opposite occurs. Unless the question asks for the impact of contractionary macroeconomic policies then don't talk about expansionary, so your answer will only be focused on contractionary. If they ask for just macroeconomic policies, then...

Does a teacher have this right to force student to drop a subject?!

At my school, both situations have happened. Well, in my opinion, I think that private schools will be more of the type to force students to drop for a number of reasons but public schools shouldn't. Those who are at the top of the class and performing extremely well shouldn't be impacted by...

    How to approach extended responses?

Yep, you should mention briefly at the end of the paragraph that the opposite occurs just using a few sentences and BOOM, the markers will be over the moon xD

    Need Advice

I have only purchased books that have past papers with worked solutions starting from 2001 to current (2001-2015), simply because they give suggested answers that are more detailed than the answers provided by board of studies. For biology, I bought the large green textbook with worked...

How many pages should the essays be?

1200+ words is a lot especially when you have two essays to get done, but if you have the capacity to think fast of relevant economic concepts and at the same time a fast hand writing then go ahead :D Of course you can get 18+ for a 1000 word essay, could also for ~900 if you are very concise...

    How to approach extended responses?

Appreciation of the AUD leads to more imports as domestic consumers see the purchasing power of their currency increase, thus deteriorating balance on BOGS. At the same time, ^AUD will result in a decline in the dollar value of foreign debt (and thus interest rates to be repaid to foreign...

    How to approach extended responses?

I know what you mean, but you need to show the marker that you know what external stability is. Therefore, you should mention its components because it is what you will (or really should) be discussing in your main body paragraphs. Brief discussion on each component in the introduction will suffice.

Are there really as many Asians in UNSW as everyone says there is?

If we all thought of each other simply as human beings, then this thread wouldn't have been posted. But hey, Australia is close to the Asia-Pacific and on top of that encourages foreign Asian students to come here to study. So ..

    How to approach extended responses?

External stability is split into three components : CAD, NFD and exchange rate stability. Intro: Define external stability and explain what its made up of (the 3 components) Main body paragraphs: Here is where you will mention several paragraphs on each 3 components. - Things to consider...

genodeg has already answered labour market policies part, that leaves innovation policies. So remember innovation will result in differentiating a firm's product in some way or another in order to capture a greater market share. This should lead to a firm being able to better cope with...

You're like me, I'm terrible at that section of economics but ill share what I remember from glancing over my notes. MER policies target individual industries in order to increase international competitiveness, encourage competition and most importantly increase aggregate supply of firms in...
