How do you study for English?

Yup - basically just write essays/creatives and improve upon them throughout the year. In the pre-2019 HSC syllabus, English was literally just adapting the essays/creatives that you worked on throughout the year to the given stimulus/question. I'm not too sure how this changes in the 2019 HSC...

    98+ atar

Not really in my opinion. Many people I know got 98+ and didn't get 92 or more in every subject.

Matrix vs Talent 100 vs Dux College vs Dr Du

I went to Matrix for 4U Maths and Talent 100 for 3U Maths and I thought they were alright. Matrix is probably structured a bit better than Talent 100 as they have weekly quizzes to help you identify your strengths/weaknesses and the overall delivery of the theory is more organised I think...

    Part time jobs after HS

Yeah I would definitely recommend doing a sport or some sort of physical exercise if you can during Year 12. I found playing basketball during Years 11 and 12 to be a great mechanism for stress relief which was really important when the pressure from exams and assessments were building up. Even...

Does attending school events/camps affect your atar?

The effect of attendance depends on your school really. A few schools may issue a warning if you skip an activity (e.g. sports carnival) day without a legitimate reason and may start to inflict academic sanctions if this is a repeated event. Not all schools do this though but I have heard some...

Is it hard to get a Band 6 in Physics?

It's doable. Generally getting around an 83-85 raw mark in the actual HSC Physics exam will give you a nicely aligned Band 6 score. In my opinion, the best way to improve your chances of scoring a Band 6 is to keep doing practice questions from past HSC papers and checking and improving...

technique for when a word has the same ending?

I don't know if this helps but perhaps consider the literary technique 'asyndeton', which is basically the omission of conjunctions in parts of a sentence. In the quote, there is "and" missing from "dauntless, voiceless" so asyndeton can probably be used. This grammatical compactness can maybe...

    standard to advanced, still possible?

If you haven't started Modules, then you could move. However, during this time, almost all schools would have started their Modules. Talk with the English HOD and see how it goes.

finding all values of z from z^3 -i=0

    I think this is how to do the question: $z^3 = i z^3 = cis (\frac{\pi}{2} + 2k\pi) 2k\pi $ is added since rotating a complex number by a multiple of $ 2\pi $ is going to give you the same value I think. $ z^3 = cis(\pi(\frac{1}{2}+2k)) $ Using De Moivre's Theorem...

how many hours of sleep to function?

I normally had on average around 6 hours of sleep per weekday during Year 12. However, there has been the occasional anomaly where < 4 hours of sleep happened due to doing assignments or exam cramming sessions. I wouldn't really recommend these though.

    Dropping ext maths?

It really depends on your ability in maths and also what course you desire to enter in university. Maths Extension 1 scales rewardingly and so can provide an ATAR bump if you do well in it. However, I would advise against doing Maths Extension 1 only for the scaling if you're not comfortable...

    Does yr 11 actually matter

Your Year 11 marks won't matter in terms of ATAR calculation but some preliminary content does carry over to Year 12 content (mostly Maths in particular and some parts of Chemistry I think).

Does anyone use Math in Focus 3U?

I actually used 'Maths in Focus' quite a fair bit for 3U. I found it quite helpful for grasping a concept for the first time - the written explanations were relatively simple and straightforward and the exercises were able to consolidate the information within the text. However, as many have...

    Tutoring centres?????

Personally, I went to Matrix for 3U Maths in Year 11 (although I did switch to Talent 100 in Year 12). I thought they were pretty good to be honest. Here are some of the tutoring centres for Maths that I know of: - Dr. Du - Kurt Mathematics Centre - Ngo & Sons - Talent 100...

Accuracy in Red Blood Cell Prac

It generally isn't considered a very accurate experiment. It was probably a coincidence that your results were close to the theoretical value but for exams I would recommend saying that the experiment was inaccurate to some extent due to the the following reasons: - Most people probably had...

I used JetStream pens by Uni-Ball.

    help with dissociating

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the overall equation doesn't have HSO4-. I think the equation should be H2SO4 + 2H2O ↔ 2H3O+ + SO42- It's basically like simultaneous equations in maths - just add the two equations together. The mono-directional arrow and equilibrium arrow are kind of like...

Motor effect experiment to qualitatively measure the force.

I didn't measure the deflection of the strip quantitatively using degrees. I just gave a description of saying whether it moved to the left (or right) by a certain length (e.g. 0.2cm or 0.5cm).

    The Anime Thread

I just finished watching Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica and I have to say it is one of the most avant-garde, darkest, and craziest series I have seen in a long time despite the colourful artwork and 'magical girl' genre. I loved it so much though. Character development was great and the messages...

    graphing le chateliers

When changing the volume of the reaction vessel, you'll have to compare each side of the equilibrium in terms of how much gaseous moles are produced. In the Haber Process (i.e. ammonia synthesis), we have 4 gaseous moles on the left hand side in total and 2 gaseous moles on the right hand side...
