    2021 Love thread

Trust me ... once you start university, you will meet so many new people that it's harder not to make new friends than to do so. Most people also continue to be friends with their high school friends after HSC (which a bit more than a year out from HSC), I still am.

    2021 Love thread

Haha trust me, once you formally finish high school, you'll have a lot more opportunities for those ... whether it's in the 2-3 month holiday between HSC and university, or even in university. It's a sacrifice you have to make now, but it will be for the greater good in the future. A sacrifice...

    Maths Ext 2 Predictions/Thoughts

I think the issue is that you can't accurately just use last year's cutoff as a benchmark or threshold for this year's E4 benchmark. Some students may have perceived this year's exam on par or even slightly more difficult compared to last year's exam, although from what I've heard, the majority...

Do We Need to Know Pearson's correlation formula?

I believe from having done the HSC last year, binomial is the main type of probability/statistics topic which is usually assessed. From memory, I don't recall ever coming across a Pearson's correlation coefficient. That said though, I should abide by what I said earlier, which was to make sure...

    Reading Comprehension HSC

You would also want to consider the time allocation. For example, in Paper 1 of English Advanced, most students choose to spend 45 minutes on the comprehension questions. 45 minutes for 20 marks is 2.25 minutes per mark, so you can also choose to allocate marks that way.

What About University are you Most Excited About?

Definitely agree ... university is great for flexibility and for students who don't have their exact career pathway planned out right now, which is most Year 12 students and is perfectly acceptable. If you enrol in a course and don't enjoy it, you can most definitely switch it up or even defer...

What About University are you Most Excited About?

Haha, I was also someone who failed it the first time. I was so embarrassed at it by first because I thought it was impossible to, but at least now, there's someone else who also failed it with me the first time, lol.

    Math Advanced Prediction/Thoughts

That's exceptional for a raw mark for any subject ... I would be surprised if that doesn't align to 100

    Subject Advice!

They could have said that if they are an experienced teacher and have been teaching the HSC course for many years. That said though, with the new syllabus change for 2019 HSC students I believe, it still is much better to be over-prepared for every topic than under-prepared. The last thing you...

Community and Family Studies Exam Predictions/Thoughts

Good luck for everyone Good luck to everyone (yourself included) for their CAFS exam 👍

    Subject Advice!

Definitely isn't a pre-requisite for nursing, med, dentistry or any other health allied course. It can help a bit, but to be honest, university is a clean slate for everyone, so you are on the same page.

    Good private English Advanced tutors?

80; definitely expensive for most student's budget, but for that price, they were definitely worth it (30+ years of experience and a current high school teacher for English really builds your CV).

    Maths Ext 2 Predictions/Thoughts

If that were the case, markers may just make the marking criteria a lot more lenient for the very difficult questions. I think that's they encourage to show some attempt or working out rather than leave it blank. Markers want to give you marks rather than take them away, so give them an...

    Subject Advice!

Pretty much, any selection of subjects can get you any degree (unless, of course, there are specific subject pre-requisites), which will in turn, get you a job, given you can maintain sufficient university grades. But there isn't a specific subject or specific university course which will...

    Math Ext 1 Predictions/Thoughts

I think it's best not to use precedents from previous exams as a basis for this year's exam. Just because a topic wasn't assessed last or was assessed heavily last year, doesn't mean they will or won't include it this year. The best thing is to make sure you're thorough and confident in every...

    Memorising Essay..

1400 words to memorise? That's crazy ... I used to struggle memorizing 900-950 English essays, so fair play if you can memorise it. Makes sense why you have to start memorizing it nice and early.

    2021 LAT Results

I was reading an article 4 years ago on the LAT --> https://www.afr.com/policy/health-and-education/ridiculously-high-marks-no-longer-enough-to-get-into-unsw-law-school-20170120-gtv6a3, and one of the lines mentioned "the ATAR cut off - 99.7 last year - was "ridiculously high" and has the...

    Good private English Advanced tutors?

I can PM you some information about a private tutor I had last year. If you want to start a conversation, go ahead, otherwise I can start one.

    Math Ext 1 Predictions/Thoughts

Maybe a few past papers under strict timed conditions. But you don't want to be learning any new content in the last 2 days or overloading yourself. The best thing you can do is just to revise difficult topics, such as the ones mentioned above, and make sure you are prepared (although you can...

    Billy elliot related text suggestions??

No, sorry, I don't have a copy of the poem on me. I have tried looking it up on various websites but haven't been successful doing so; perhaps, you may be able to find it.
