    Combined med usyd.

i have heard this also and makes a lot of sense as theres about 30 places for the combined med degree with approximately 50 people getting 99.95 (iirc). however, a lot of the competition is eliminated due to the fact that many choose UNSW for the shorter course.

    Phd in medicine?

In the US a neurosurgeon earns seven figures, but for whatever reason they aren't paid well here in Australia. Most likely the result of the different health systems. It's a top specialty in terms of prestige, but certainly not the highest paid surgical specialty.

    Phd in medicine?

lowest: psychiatry, paediatrics, gp highest: ophthalmology, dermatology, radiology, urology, anaesthesia, O&G, most surgical specialities (except paediatric surgery and neurosurgery)

    Phd in medicine?

PhD is usually about 3 years in the majority of cases but some people take up to 4/5 years.

    Phd in medicine?

you will be at least 40 lol. i commend you for wanting to do it cuz its one of the lowest paying surgical specialities and you will rarely get a good nights rest as you are on-call 24/7. you really have to be passionate about it.

    Phd in medicine?

Psychiatry is one of the least competitive specialties along with GP. You definitely don't need a phd to get in or get a job after specialising. But yeah, it will take at least 10+ years (including med school) for you to become one (pretty short compared to other specialties)
  10. Dr_Fresh

    Phd in medicine?

research is looked upon very favourably when you apply for fellowships at the respective colleges which then allows you to specialise. however, it is by no means necessary except for the competitive ones (surgical ones mainly). also, once you do become a specialist, it is very hard to get a job...

    James Cook Uni Medicine

I will say that you can get in with 95. But majority of people there have high 90s.

    James Cook Uni Medicine

Obviously the higher the better. But from what I hear, the application form and interview have much bigger weighting than the ATAR.

    Medicine/Science good idea???

medical physics has nothing to do with medicine at all. its just a b. science degree where you work with medical equipment all day. you dont need any medical knowledge, just how to operate the machinery.
