in med, if u fail, u repeat a whole year rather than just one subject (5 year degree turns into a 6 year one). high stakes calls for extreme measures, so u do what u have to do to get through.

i know ppl who went into exams thinking they could pass. but after flicking through the actual paper, they go to the toilet, gag themselves, tell the examiner they arent feeling well, get a med cert and sit a deferred exam.

I really doubt this will come into effect and if it does it would be a terrible move. As a doctor you have to know how to treat a patient holistically taking into account all of their health issues. E.g if you are a cardiologist treating a patient with heart failure who also has a psychiatric...

90% of med students say they want to do surgery in first year. a few 6am ward rounds and dozens of hours in theatre later, less than 10% actually end up being surgeons. thats the reality. pointless thread is pointless
