    How's uni?

Lecture recordings and tutorial attendance typically varies by faculty and course. At USYD, science tutorials were all optional, and all lectures were recorded. None of the lectures were recorded for engineering, and tutorials were all mandatory (at least up until 3rd year). However, I...

    ATAR with doing 3 commerces

I never really understood why some people who got all rounders are so scared of having their details released in the paper. Then I saw this. Common sense and respecting people's privacy seems to be a rare commodity nowadays.

    Last days

I missed HS when I was in my first few yrs at uni, as do most people I think. Most people don't have as close a group with their uni friends than with their HS friends, since not everyone takes the same subjects, people skip classes, etc, whereas in HS you're with your friends every...

    Help engineering hsc MC questions

Max stress is 800 MPa. This is what it was designed to - it will fail if it exceeds this. So a FoS is added in to cap the allowable stress at 400 MPa. Not sure why you're getting caught up on the yield stress.

    Help engineering hsc MC questions

    Max stress is 400 MPa. Stress = F/A so F = A*stress = (1/4)*pi*(8e-3)^2 * 400e6 = 20,106 N. So max load it can sustain is 2000 kg.

Should I bother with Year 11 content?

Not very familiar with the new syllabus, but in the old syllabus the y11 and 12 phys chem content were quite different. E.g. circuits were in y11 and it wasn't examined in y12 (I remember skipping that topic y11). If that's still the case, then you could technically just skip it.

Can i still get 80% atar HELP?

Well yes there's always a chance... Either way it doesn't matter, there's nothing you can do except to just try your best. Too many people on this forum asking if they'll get a certain ATAR, when in reality nobody knows. And it's not like their opinion is going to change anything in terms of how...

Can i still get 80% atar HELP?

Fair enough. Well, nothing you can do now except destroy the externals lol.

Can i still get 80% atar HELP?

Yeh but even without studying, getting a reasonable (not necessarily good) mark shouldn't be too hard to manage. Some yr10 math, a bit of elementary calculus, and just some minor recollection of the topics should be sufficient to get you to the 30-40% mark. Like, if you absolutely cannot recall...

Can i still get 80% atar HELP?

Yeh true that, I only singled out environmental since one of my friends did it and she told me it's a super hand-wavy engineering degree haha.

Can i still get 80% atar HELP?

Wow. Dude if you're getting 14% in the trials for Maths Advanced, engineering is going to be 4yrs of struggle street (unless you do environmental engineering or Software/IT).

    English

While I 105% agree with what you said (as I'm sure most will), it's not something that we can change, so we all need to put up with it. In the end, English is just a game you need to beat. Once the HSC's over, you'll forget about it and never look back - it really is insignificant in the grand...

Internal Course Transfer at UNSW and USYD

I'm assuming that's just the Advanced equivalent of the Science (mathematics major) degree.

Internal Course Transfer at UNSW and USYD

Lol nah my point was that they skimmed over my marks and just said ok without giving it a proper thought =P

Internal Course Transfer at UNSW and USYD

That will be kinda be different for everyone. Math was always my best area, so I never struggled to get 80+ in my math subjects despite never attending lectures (compare that to engineering where I struggled to even get a D). But as people have said above, 1st yr math isn't that difficult, since...

Internal Course Transfer at UNSW and USYD

For the record, I internally transferred into the Adv Math degree as well. The reason was that I was combined with engineering, and there was no UAC course code for BEng/BSci(Advanced Mathematics), only BEng/BSci. On open day, they said they'll put me in the Adv Math degree, but I think they...

Internal Course Transfer at UNSW and USYD

I graduated a while back with a Bachelor of Science (Advanced Mathematics) degree from USYD. The process of transferring shouldn't be too difficult. If you get reasonable marks in first year, you'll be able to transfer. For USYD, the only difference between the Bachelor of Science (Advanced...

Lowest ATAR in the top 2 schools?

No, that's their median, not their average.

Lowest ATAR in the top 2 schools?

You're assuming that everyone who does well in the Y6 selective test is guaranteed to do well in the HSC. That's just not the case - so much happens in in those 6 years when you transform from a high-pitched innocent pipsqueek to a young adult. There's bound to be some smart pipsqueeks who will...

    HSC

No. The reason people find it stressful is likely due to time management issues, an overall lack of disciple, or the competitive nature of the ranking system. The subjects themselves are not all that hard (Ext 2 math included). You have a set of syllabus points to tell you what you need to know...
