Hello! So I'm currently trying to study for my physics trials next term in weeks 1-2, and I discovered that the old syllabus (the one before 2001) shares more similarities with the new syllabus (particularly with questions being more mathematically based + some topics like wave model of light)...

Yes you certainly can improve in your ranks! :) It seems you already know why you didn't do as well (not focusing enough on 3U), so be sure to address that. Work harder for the upcoming trials, and make sure you allocate time to focusing on your weak topics. Also, make sure you do exam papers...

Went through quite an intense fortnight just then, had 4 assessments due in the past fortnight (2 of them on the same day...!) So excited for the long weekend though, what are we all doing? Sadly might still do lots of work since I got an English assessment due week 7 + studying for trials

Yes it is 100% possible bounce back! I was in the exact same situation as you back in preliminary for physics. Our first assessment task had a weighing of 20% and I scored 5/20 in it, placing me at the bottom 10 of the cohort. Of course, I was extremely disappointed and even had a breakdown...
