The legitimacy of depression as an illness.

Reasonable point. That needs to be made clear. Depression as an illness is not being questioned.

The legitimacy of depression as an illness.

Paragraph = topic sentence + 3-5 proceeding sentences (tick!) RE: "fwends" << very mature.

The legitimacy of depression as an illness.

Sarcastic comments that infer that I was expressing a cynical and sheltered view of life may make you feel funny, but they just replace your otherwise unintelligent and often degrading comments about the illness. I think you are missing the point that no matter what others do and say (and yes, I...

The legitimacy of depression as an illness.

considering that depression is a medically recognised illness, the legitimacy of it is pretty solid in my book..and in all relevant books ive seen.

The legitimacy of depression as an illness.

Fair calls by those who responded to my emotionally charged comment about this thread. I don't withdraw it, but I can see where y'all are coming from. Reasonable come backs.

The legitimacy of depression as an illness.

In fact I did. What is your point?

The legitimacy of depression as an illness.

Each to their own I suppose. But I'm almost certain that I am not the only one who holds that opinion, and I was most definitely stating a rhetorical question.

The legitimacy of depression as an illness.

I am really finding it difficult to comment on this thread because what could have been a civilised discussion, has transformed into an aggressive and almost unrelated argument. Is it me or are there a bunch of bored, uninterested people on here just trying to spark a fight?

The legitimacy of depression as an illness.

Ahh you're cracking me up!!! "I get knocked down, but I get up again" << I'm not sure if they'll have many more idiotic and hurtful arguments to form (:

The legitimacy of depression as an illness.

Let's get it clear that the person who created this thread put forward a question, or a point for debate and did not originally put forward their opinion on the topic. I doubt that they are personally affected by the illness, though I cannot confirm this. The title of this thread is not the...

The legitimacy of depression as an illness.

Yeah I agree. Whilst focusing on all of the people who many believe are "faking it" or "putting it on", I think the people who are actually suffering the illness have been forgotten on this thread.

The legitimacy of depression as an illness.

I think you've got to remember that although there may be a huge chunk of "depression sufferers" that are not diagnosed. Some of which are actually suffering from the mental illness, and others who are having a tough time in life yet are do not have the illness, and an even smaller minority who...

The legitimacy of depression as an illness.

i think you're really brave and i admire your confidence in saying this so strongly, and so rightly. that really hit home for me. i keep falling back into the 'i can do it alone' pattern, and i don't think that i can personally do it alone. i don't think that i am as strong as you, but i...

CAFS IRP topic- bullying..?? help please!

Well I've finally chosen to do 'The impact of bullying on the self-esteem of teenagers'-specifically within my school. I am going to conduct a questionnaire and an observation. I dont think that the 'opening up' is going to be a problem. Well I hope not.
