Are you guys buying a yearly ticket ???

Sorry, you're correct :) It's only a child ticket which has an off peak return price range, which is cheaper - but that is the only difference from a student ticket price. Student tickets don't have these. All explained here on the ticket calculator...

    Feeling overwhelmed already!

Dude, let me give you some advice. I've walked a mile in your shoes. It's taken me since 2006 to get to where I am now. Honestly, if you want it bad enough, you keep going. I've been doing this for 6 years now, and at this point, it doesn't bother me anymore how long it took me to get here. I...

    UNSW Roll Call 2012

I know how you feel, I don't know anybody doing science either! xD

Are you guys buying a yearly ticket ???

Yep. Child, student and half fare are all the same price :) The cheapest ticket you could ever get is the pensioner $2.50 ticket :P

How long does it take you to get to Uni?

Just a teensy bit over 2 hours - one way. 1hr45 - 1hr 50 to central, 15-20 minutes from central to UNSW. So maybe about 4.5 hours to and from. I got used to travelling this long ages ago, it does come in handy. You've got excellent time to review what's happening in that day's lab, or do some...

    $200 CityRail Penalty Appeal HELP

Well a couple of years ago my brother received a cityrail fine - they mispelled his name. He didn't give them the incorrect spelling on purpose, it just happened. He ended up not paying the fine, won his appeal, because of that. This was about 5 years ago, so maybe things are a little different...

What clubs and societies are you joining?

From what someone told me here the other day, some charge a feee that at maximum is $10, but that the majority of them don't cost money. I guess I'll find out tomorrow :/ There's about 4 groups I'm really interested in, and I'm guess there will be more there than what's on the arc website?

Are you guys buying a yearly ticket ???

Sorry forgot to mention - assuming you aren't familiar with the mymulti system, they cover buses+trains+ferries+trams (light rail) in one ticket. Usually these tickets are economical for people who are travelling 30 minutes + to get to uni, and are travelling for more than 3 days a week. Here's...

Are you guys buying a yearly ticket ???

Take a look at the cityrail MyMulti zoning map, and you'll either be in zone 1, 2 or 3. 1 being closest towards sydney CBD and 3 being furtherst away. Open up the pdf and see where you live and what zone you're in. If you're going to be there 5 days, and are using the train to get to central...

    CHEM 1011 rollcall

I'm just not that good with chemistry :( Chem 1011 is all I really need to advanced on to the higher subjects for me.

What clubs and societies are you joining?

Hmm seems like I'll be able to swing it then :) Need to get my arc membership done - but I get confused with their wording. They mention it being free, then $29?

What clubs and societies are you joining?

When joinning clubs/society during o-week, and if there's a fee to join, do you pay on the day, or they put your name down and you pay them later. Trying to make sure I have enough leftover after paying some bills tomorrow.

    Whats NCARS? ( Non-Course Academic Requirements )

Yeah, just tried to take the ELISE quiz now (before I forget), says it opened on the 14th, but it's not active on blackboard. Or is it, and I'm using a 'do not use' browser? I'm still lolling over blackboards recommended browsers. I suppose all pcs at UNSW use ie8 or firefox 3.6 so people can...

    UNSW new student card

It seems I've started a tradition. Any uni photo id I have is demented (crap lighting - it came out looking really dim and yellow, like it was a photo from the 70s this time around), but my tafe photo id cards have all been pretty decent :P

Are you guys buying a yearly ticket ???

I'm getting the mymulti3 weekly, which is around $30..which is pretty damn economical since it costs me $10.50 for a 1 day mymulti day pass (concession) and $8.20 just for the mytrain (I'll be there 5 days a week :( ). I guess if you're going to be there 3+ days, get the weekly. 2 days, then do...

PR but getting my citizenship on the 21st of March

Yes. You'll effectively be a citizen March 21, with 10 days to spare until the census date rolls over. The.very.next.day. go into the uni and get it all sorted. Do it in person, not over the phone. Good news that you got a quick ceremony, some people have to wait a few months! I think the...

    Full time work and uni?

I'd recommend the deferring for one year, using that year to work plan also. That way, throughout the year you can always discuss with your employer that you have university on the backburner for the year, and see how they feel about you working and studying at the same time. Some employers are...

First year student: Buying textbooks now or later...

Also check out amazon as well. I've found a few things there in the past, but make sure that you check the condition they're selling it to you in. Can be a bit dodgy sometimes :(

First year student: Buying textbooks now or later...

For science, I just look through booko and bookdepository and try my luck there...or look for pdfs that people have uploaded. They usually give you a week or so grace period to get your books together, so you could be able to order when they tell you to get such and such a book. However if...

First year student: Buying textbooks now or later...

It honestly depends. I remember one year we were instructed to buy the aus version of a first year chemistry book...all that was different was that there were interviews with Australian chemists in there, along with some information that was relevant to australia in the world of chemistry. I...
