extra cirricular stuff needed to get into med?

lol, use some common sense, yes it's relevant, but you need to talk about the qualities of leadership and to describe it in more general e.g. I was in the SRC and worked on many projects, regional meetings and even participating in workshops at Parliament house, etc rather than I did this and...

extra cirricular stuff needed to get into med?

You might not even get asked about it during the interview. But it could/should be something that you can talk about if they ask about work experience, etc. Volunteer work with charity, emergency services, hospital, etc. But alot of students will have simillar things though. Be sure you can...

Is studying medicine harder than studying other degrees?

Yes. It's a bit like the study for HSC in the later half of the year. There is plenty of free-time however, you have to use your alot of your own time for self-directed study and learning (most med schools have self directed problem or clinical based learning cases every week)! But it also...

    entry into UWS

All students who were interviewed signed a non-disclosure form. All I can tell you is that the interviews are MMI with 10 stations, including 1 rest station. You will be asked a number of things, be in scenarios and situations, etc that will test you under crtical situations.

    UWS MBBS students

We're in week 11, we have 15 weeks, so yeah it's starting to get stressful. Prof. Frankum is one of our clinical deans. Our timetable like most other med schools changes every week (following week is released on thursdays) and is only accessable to first year med students via our e-learning...

    UWS MBBS students

PPD is about ethics, medico-legal issues, the health of western sydney, empathy and so in. Most med courses have a simillar learning program. We normally have one of these lectures/tutes every fortnight. The handbook serves as a general guide, don't pay any attention to the timetable in it...

    poor undergrad marks..

What horror stories, the only horror stories that med students have heard recently was Bond universities failure with AMC accreditation which they have now rectified and cadaver abuse at UNSW last year. ND Sydney had issues with staffing when it started, etc. All med school's have their...

    apply UTAS

VTAC looks after Victoria but has an arrangement with Utas to make it easier for Victorian students to apply, but you can apply directly to Utas like most students do. UAC looks after NSW uni's but also has Latrobe (Vic) and USQ (Qld) courses advertised, you can also apply to La trobe through...

    poor undergrad marks..

They only look at your GPA from your last 3 years of study, also ACER weighs your GPA 4 becomes 4.5, 5 becomes 5.5, 6 becomes 6.75. GAMSAT - How to calculate your GPA Why only UNSW and Usyd, there are 5 other med school's in NSW and; UWS and ND in Sydney. UNSW is undergraduate only, you...

    entry into UWS

Weighted. Also the weighting system, scalling and moderation process will remain undisclosed again this year. Only the Dean and one other academic at UWS knows how it fully works. I asked the school again yesterday to disclose more info, but they wouldn't.

2009 UMAT Official Results (No Spam)

I really don't know due to the annual scalling and moderation process, but i'd say even if you are GWS it's a slim chance that you'll get an interview since they normally look at section 1 and 2 as a whole and weigh section 3 down. Also alot of people have inundated with med school with UMAT...

2009 UMAT Official Results (No Spam)

Macca91 it is highly unlikely that you will get an interview, unless you are GWS and even then it is still unlikely. Since most GWS students still had overall percentiles in the very high 80's and low 90's as a min, despite the scalling. Correct, also the weighting system, scalling and...

    2nd time UMAT need advice!!!!!!!!

Re: 2nd time umat need advice!!!!!! Yes you can apply next year. Virtually all uni admissions are handled through UAC, even though you may have done a degree, be a non-standard, taken a gap year without defering a course. Your ATAR/UAI lasts for 10 years, you can apply for courses during this...
