LachieM, sorry to interject here but your analogy of the path intrigues me :) Couldn't you argue that you have a path which does have forks, and this represents all the choices that you could have made (but, because everything is predetermined in your analogy, you can only take the left forks...

I would say that it's an interesting interpretation, but one that could be risky as well. You're also playing for the markers, and you'd need to build a strong and not a shakey 'maybe' case. If you can create a strong one, that'd be something you could use I guess.

I would suggest keeping it away from what you'll do in Year 12, but do something interesting :) Soviet Russia can produce interesting stuff, as can Germany and Europe in general. Yugoslavia in the inter-war period might be interesting, if you like that stuff.
