When I did it, the preliminary course was run by another local school as distance education, then the HSC course had to be completed through Sydney Distance Educational High School.

You can't do much in regards to travel etc. If you ask me, your biggest savings will be made on food. If you want to save, I suggest either taking food from home or getting to know the local cheap spots / deals pretty quickly

Firstly, congratulations on the scholarship! :) The requirements for teaching subject accreditation can be found here. If you're still uncertain of which subjects to enroll in, then I'd suggest you talk to the education faculty at the university, I'm sure they'd be more than happy to help...

Most universities are trying to phase out their 1 year DipEd though, so you'd need to undertake either a BTeach which is 18 months or a MTeach which is 2 years. That said though, you could still become qualified to teach in 4 years if you do a combined degree at any other university than...

Thanks for the advice :) I also think that the combined degree would be a good course, I especially like how you learn your teaching subjects whilst learning the education units, thus putting them into a teaching context and whatnot. However as you said, the lack of freedom with the arts...

I was under the impression that they don't contact you... They could've had problems contacting you, so I'd call them on 9836 9157. That way if you did get it, then that's great, if not, at least you have confirmation and could sleep a bit better at night?

Regarding which university to study at, that may depend on what the HSIE subject you want to teach is going to be. Both have great history departments, with Macquarie probably having the edge when it comes to ancient history. It's also possible to become a qualified maths AND HSIE teacher...

You get both Namu. Pretty sure that it's $5,000 each year for the duration of your course, then a further $3,000 upon completing the course. You're also assigned to a certain school for 3 years.
