My subjects are open for discussion...

From what i've heard it varies a lot between students, but physics is harder in prelim than HSC due to having to learn all the new formulas and concepts, but if you're good with formula's and subbing then yea, i suppose so.

My subjects are open for discussion...

yea that's really good, especially since you wont have much trouble getting into MX1, there is heaps of competition at my school since they're only running one class(new math co-ord is a bitch), so pretty much 1/3 of the accelerated class isn't allowed to choose it

My subjects are open for discussion...

Oh i totally forgot about the different math classes, but yea you'll be fine with math, plus having less people to compete with will be good if you can get first

My subjects are open for discussion...

How many kids are in your year? Also if there aren't many that would really suck seeing as a lot of the year group would have to choose the same subjects. thanks for reply on the math thing :)

Another year 11 subject selection thread

wish my school was like yours, we are allowed a max of 12u(and we have to have a religion so no double extension). I don't get why you're not doing physics since you seem to really like engineering. Some advice which my science teacher gave me was that because i didn't have an idea for what i'd...

My subjects are open for discussion...

Wow small schools must be awesome, so you can pretty much get into any subject you want with a certain number of students. And yea you hsould definitely do MX1 if you can as you will be able to drop it if you can't handle. You also seems to be doing really well in 5.3maths so mathematics will be...

My subjects are open for discussion...

So is advanced math just mathematics or extension 1. I'm sure you'll do well with those subjects, especially considering your ranking. Also if advanced math is extension 1 will your school even run it if there is only 20 kids in your whole year

is physics as hard as people make it out to be ?

Not sure if true but my teachers for math and science told me that physics will involve less maths next year/year after, but yea i'm sure that if you put the effort in physics should be fine.

    Subject Selection

bio isn't needed for med, only chem is a prerequisite but you should definitely take up bio so that you can try more subjects, and if it is too much you can always drop.

    Subject Selection

I only see 11 units there, are you missing a subject? With the career path thing I guess the best way for you is to read up on the job or do that job for work experience(or something similar).

Year 11 Subject Selection - HSC

A family friend I know who's dream was to get into med got a 99.6 atar and sadly still didn't make it in(she flunked the interview). If you're still passionate about the med thing (for the reason of helping people and the like), you can also aim for nursing and other things i guess. BTW do...

Year 11 Subject Selection - HSC

Hi, In year 10 as well so no first hand experience with the subjects but I have/had the same problem with the religion in a catholic school thing. I would definitely recommend SOR1 to you however if you choose this you will be studying 11u in year 12, but the benefit will be a lower workload in...

    Subject Selection help

Thanks, and yea i'll probably choose chem because of the application and stuff and I find it more interesting, If i end up hating it i'll either swap to bio or modern.

    Subject Selection help

My subjects so far are: MX1 mathematics (accelerated) EE1 SOR1 (ugh I hate this) Economics Physics Chem/Bio????? (not sure which one sure yet) I really want to do well with mathematics next year so I don't have to do it in year 12 but I'm not sure whether these units will be too...

What's the benefit of a selective school?

hahaha LOL my school has so many, but i guess that's to be expected for a 300-ish ranking school. The school has now resulted to creating mark requirements for year 11 and 12 subjects to stop them going into harder classes and failing, so now they're pretty much stuck with bio, standard and...

Guide to choosing subjects for Year 9 & 10

re: Guide to choosing subjects for Year 9 & 10 I chose commerce and IST(only 2 choices sadly). Be careful with IST as there a quite a few topics which are optional(I got the crap ones like databases and animation) . Commerce is great if you like that sort of stuff and from what I hear is a...

What's the benefit of a selective school?

So with the performance of the cohort thing, If someone does really well for both internal and external but the majority of the class does pretty badly will the person who performed well be brought down. I hear kids and teachers in my school talk about how getting bad marks can affect the marks...

What's the benefit of a selective school?

Thanks for the answers guys. A bit off topic but how do the marks of your year group affect you in a positive way (bring them up), what percentage of the class has to do well to bring your mark up? BTW Tina is awesome

What's the benefit of a selective school?

I've been seeing a lot of people posting about applying for selective schools for year 11, and I know that people who go to these skills generally get better results but what does the school offer/do to achieve these results and is there any real benefit of going to one of these school compared...
