So MQ is finally offering a MPH. Is anyone here looking to undertake it? I just finished my Bachelor of Health and will be applying for it, probably specialising in Global Health.

Mine, too. Hired a bunch of juniors (15-16 year olds) and I'm averaging a shift a week unless I pick up somebody else's. Doesn't it cost a bunch of money to hire new workers?

I've been casual for just over nine months. Is it appropriate to ask for part time (I need the stability, post-uni) or should I wait until they come to me?

I've only had it for two shifts but I really like it so far. Seem to be serving customers much more efficiently as a result.

Pretty much what everyone else said. Offer to help them scan it. And let your supervisor know if they keep it up. We've had repeat offenders at my store and they've been banned. Not having the scales in the bagging area like at Coles, etc, has been a blessing and a curse.

I think (hope?) that maybe they worked for a dentist.

So can anyone tell me why a manager might be mad that I called in to ask if someone could take my shift? I take other people's all the time but I called in for the first time myself and she seemed really mad/said I shouldn't do it in future. She also gets mad if I call in sick/cancel a shift...

We have lockers. I keep my phone/wallet in there (even if a bunch of coworkers don't...) but I had my debit card in my pocket from after my break. Will be keeping it away in future just in case. Thanks for all of the encouragement. Went in today and no problem. As for Easter, no interesting...

Thanks for the speedy reply. I've been stressing about getting fired. I'm not sure that they'll even find out, but if they do it was such a small amount and it would be a first warning sort of situation. Kinda sucks that it's against the rules, although I'm sure there's a good reason for it...

I think I did something dumb today. I had a customer that was a regular and a really nice lady. Her mother has been in the hospital sick and, at the end of the transaction, she/we realised that she didn't have her card or any cash on her. I really didn't want her to have to leave without her...

Can't believe how ridiculously busy the Thursday before Good Friday was. Our carpark was more full than Christmas Eve. Today was pretty intense, too, but I'm told Saturday was quieter.

This is the best/worst part of the job, I swear.

Woolworths is my first job and that's the case for most of my front-end coworkers. A bunch of them are studying their HSC this year and they seem to be balancing just fine. Just make sure that you're honest about your availability as much as you can be. The skills are not at all hard to learn...

I worked Australia Day and that was pretty average, but I hear that Boxing Day is super quiet so I'm curious about what Easter Saturday will look like. Have a good shift! And enjoy the pay. :D

Nice. Only working Easter Saturday but still can't wait to get that pay. Working on the Thursday before Good Friday, too. Is it usually pretty chaotic?

My pay came in about an hour ago (9pm Wednesday.) It's usually there before midnight on Tuesday. Apparently the WoW People Portal cited "human error."
