LOLOLOL. Studying isn't too bad, but i do detest it when they don't explain assignments properly ><" LOL don't worry. Many people don't have much of an idea when it comes to engineering. Civil engineering = all structures that don't move. So buildings, roads, bridges, Dams, airports etc etc :)

Significance of gaps in assessment marks?

True, but if they were decent they'd work harder to catch up ;)

    Dropping Adv. English?

Change that to aligning and i'd have to agree. If you're smart, "memorising" an essay = analysing the text properly and being able to adapt your knowledge. There's no way to stop smart people from memorising a base essay, unless they change the entire course so it's more like EE1.

    Band 6

Yusss. Marks are really important - the mark gaps play an important role in determining the value of marks that are going to be given to a certain cohort in a certain school based on the internal mark gaps and the performance in the HSC exams. The moderated marks get given out based on the...

Significance of gaps in assessment marks?

If you're first, you'd want to create the largest between yourself and the others as possible. This is so you have a higher chance of staying first in case you screw up rank wise. And if you do come first, your overall mark won't be so bad if you screw up during the HSC exams :)
