    HSC PIP Questionnaire

👍, really interesting and relevant topic as well

    Changing subjects

I'd also say that chemistry has a significant amount of maths; not anything past advanced or standard levels, but especially with Module 6, there will be lots of calculations for titration and mole questions, so that may be something you also want to consider. I personally didn't do biology, but...

    I don't quite remember?

I know that my year (2020) had our trials during the second week of August, but the year after ours had theirs a bit later (so towards the end of August); but it wasn't a significant delay in the exams

    Mod A essays

Agree with the above and also want to add something else; I don't think you would lose marks for not including them, but it would be good at the least to describe the part of the text where a specific scene occurs if not the act or scene, so the marker knows you aren't just including quotes for...

There's a few tips which I think would be really useful. 1) Before jumping into ideas, have an idea for a main character and try to develop it (your character doesn't have to be some 'immortal-like' person who saves the world, or some exaggerated idea like that; often, the simple characters...

When to start prepping for UCAT?

What I did was start just before the new year of going into Year 12 so I could make the most of the holidays by committing more hours per day. Obviously, I made sure not to burn myself out and still left time to spend with family and friends as it was the last genuine holiday I would have for an...

Do you think if a famous person who lives in NSW can carry on with the normal lives and do things like go shopping, to school, etc without security?

Probably depends where they're based ... if in the city area, then probably a slim chance. But if they lived more west (like past Blacktown and those suburbs), then a good chance ... also depends on who that person is and what audience would know him (age, ethnicity, gender, etc)

    Induction q:

I'm not jimmy, but can help you out here. Honestly, I would stick to what your school tells you to do. With me, I had asked my teacher (as well as other teachers) before exams, and they said it was fine to write a small conclusion, as in theory, it doesn't test your understanding of the topic...

    Quotes

It also depends on how long your quotes are; some people may have 4 word quotes, which in that case, they may have more 'quotes', but for people who have 10 word quotes (just an hypothetical example), they may not have as many.

Best undergraduate degree for postgrad med?

In all honesty though, societies should be joined for the sake of interest; really, you shouldn't be joining them solely based on your university degree

pls do my pip questionnaire (gender & fashion)

Done ... an interesting topic, btw

    Studying Ahead for Uni

I guess it also depends on your interpretation of the word 'better'; for different people, they will look for different attributes in a teacher.

    Best scaling subjects?

There's also interstate universities which don't necessarily require a 99+ ATAR, but some people don't want to move interstate for their own reasons.
  15. icycledough

    Best scaling subjects?

Yh, but I think those are the only 2 universities which do that. For example, UNSW would consider your ATAR (for which a competitive ATAR would be like 99.5+)
  16. icycledough

    Best scaling subjects?

That's actually what I thought (about needing a 99.5+ ATAR or thereabouts to get into medicine), but in fact, there's a lot of universities which don't require a 99+ ATAR. Even within NSW, for WSU and JMP, the minimum ATARs needed are like 95.5 (non-GWS) and 94. The great thing is that these are...

Are people fooling themselves by doing med science?

Oh nice, that sounds really interesting. I've got a mate whose brother also studies medicine in the UK, and he's told me it's a really unique and cool experience. I have heard though that it's very expensive, in excess of around 400k, but I'm sure you would have considered that before applying...

    Studying Ahead for Uni

No worries ... again, that will depend on the course you do. Our lecturers gave us lecture slides for us to access, but that may not be the case for every course.

    Studying Ahead for Uni

1 and 2: Definitely no need to start prepping for university now. There's a reason why this is a summer holiday; make sure to use it wisely. Go out with family and friends (where possible), save time for yourself with hobbies, part time work, etc. You won't have access to lecture slides or notes...
