    2016ers Chit-Chat Thread

Your assessment mark is very likely to be lower than your exam mark, and you'll end up with a lower HSC mark compared to your exam mark. I had a friend who was internally ranked towards the bottom of the 4U maths cohort. He got 83 for his exam mark but his assessment mark was 70 - thus, he...

How long does it take you to travel to Uni?

Walking to station - 10 minutes Train - 40 minutes Bus to uni - 20 minutes So around 1 hour 20 minutes if I include wait times. I don't find it too bad.

    UTS LAW vs UNSW LAW

Some things for you to consider: - UNSW will implement the LAT for 2017 and onwards Law entry. - If you have an unlucky first year at UTS Med Sci/Law in regards to marks, you're still in a Law degree and can pick yourself up in your remaining years. - If you have an unlucky first year at UNSW...

    Is econ1101 hard?

Refer to the last line of the above quote. But yes, you can.

    Is econ1101 hard?

ECON1101, if you look at the course in Semester 1 2015 and Semester 2 2015, is arguably the easiest first year ASB course. Apparently over 60%~ of people got either a D or HD in Semester 1 and around 10+ people got 100 in the course. Plenty of students get a D or HD without having done...

    FINS1612 or FINS1613 Sem 1?

FINS1613 CP is relatively easy to get 10/10 (or full marks) in, if you contribute once or twice a tutorial each week. Commerce CP is mainly about quantity honestly, whereas Arts or Law CP are more about depth and quality.

USYD and UNSW law transfer 2016

UNSW Law NRSL cut-off was around 95-96 in 2015. Good chances for UNSW. USYD is still a possibility but UNSW is more likely.

USYD and UNSW law transfer 2016

Your WAM looks strong enough for a transfer. How's your GPA? Yeah, they should end up using 100% tertiary results for you.

    FINS1613 sem1 or sem2

Definitely possible. It's just that, historically, it was more probable in Sem 1. Not sure about now because I heard the Sem 1 course co-ordinator is changing to a different person. MGMT is apparently similar in both sems so it shouldn't be matter.
  17. R

    FINS1613 sem1 or sem2

Historically, Sem 1 has been the way to go (due to the head lecturer/course co-ordinator, the structure of assessments e.g. quizzes and no mid-sem, lower overall difficulty, etc). However, I think the difficulty gap between Sem 1 and Sem 2 is closing (the discrepancy between student numbers...

USYD and UNSW law transfer 2016

If you apply via IPT, they use just your WAM/GPA. If you apply via UAC, they may use your WAM/GPA and your ATAR. For UAC transfers (which is most cases), theoretically they use ATAR and GPA/WAM if your ATAR is higher than your GPA/WAM equivalent, and they use just your GPA/WAM if your GPA/WAM...
