Dude you were literally praising Dutton's strategy as recently as February lmao
He did well as Opposition Leader and his strategy was working, but I had a feeling once the campaign hit it would fall apart (I noted as such to an ex-BoSer).

I am relatively old. Also, I know non-executive staff of obscure companies who make more than the PM - politics is a horrible way to make money. It isnt really until after where you can make serious dough (book deals, corporate speaking, board positions etc).

Relatively speaking, politicians are underpaid given their levels of responsibility. For example, Anthony Albanese is paid around $500k, compare that to the CEO of Light & Wonder (never heard of them) who makes around $10 million per year. So a guy running a random company makes 20 times the PMs salary.

I like to bash politicians as much as the next person, but the whole "they are overpaid" argument is just so weak, given the pay no-one gets in politics to get rich. It's the same as people who say "All Politicians are corrupt" not understanding that corruption in politics isnt common at all given Australia's very robust anti-corruption systems and democratic safeguards. People fail to distinguish between actual corruption (i.e. bribery, sham contracting etc) and things that appear unethical but are legal (i.e. lobbyists accessing MPs or pork-barrelling).

You said this in response to me criticizing him for advocating for things like nuclear power, which is now universally regarded as a huge mitake
