I obtained a positive covid test result today, but I have an Investigating Science exam on Friday. Am I still able to go?

Hey! Last year I missed my Maths Ext 2 course because I also had COVID (had to apply for illness/misadventure). I got it Sunday/Monday (day of test) and Ext 1 was on the following Friday (which I did sit without needing an illness/misadventure form), so you'll probably have recovered by then. If not, and if you feel like it will impact your performance on the exam, it's best to prepare for that scenario by first taking a photo of your COVID test now to save for later, and then do a test the day before or on your Investigating exam. If you still feel sick but not sick enough to be away, make sure to let your presiding officer and your principal know so they can probably sit you away from the rest of the cohort and issue you an illness/misadventure form which you need to fill out (and put the COVID test photos as documentation) and get a doctor's certificate on that same day and return it asap. Bear in mind though if you don't notify your presiding officer/principal and they notice you are very sick during the exam, they can ask you to leave.

All the best for the rest of your HSC !!

Forgot covid even existed. Go because it's a flu, plus I don't think it's illegal now.

As long as you don’t have a ton of symptoms, then prolly go. Maybe just take some precautions but it’s way easier than the hassle of misadventure

I think the term covid should be banned now. It literally has been reduced to a flu in 2024 cause everyone's already immune to it. Only libtards still exploit this word to make everyone stay home and wear masks. I doubt you will even spread the disease if you go since everyone has gotten it atleast once and a thing called "herd immunity". I would have been fuming if I did the hsc in 2021 and they cancelled it in 2021 cause of a flu. Good thing they didn't.

How tf did you get in here bro. Nobody is being forced to stay home and to be wearing masks. Yes, that was the case in mid-late 2021 because it was a rapidly mutating virus that threatened a lot of our population. You saying it was just a flu undermines the fact that people have gotten long COVID, in which people have become chronically ill from it. Since you don’t know how viruses work, let me break it down for you.

your immune system has two categories: innate immune and adaptive immune. innate immune is your non specific immunity, this does jack shit against a lethal virus. adaptive immunity is only acquired from getting the virus or from being vaccinated, so your WBC recognizes the antigen attached to the virus.
just because you had influenza as a child, that doesn’t mean you’re automatically immune to all viruses. that’s actually genuinely stupid, ive seen plenty of conservatives with more intelligence than you

You do not get herd immunity from innate immunity, because your immune system does not recognise the specific coronavirus antigen. Herd immunity also only works if the vast majority of the population has herd immunity, hence the fucking name, because even if half of the population was protected, it doesn’t stop it from latching on and mutating from host to host.

nobody is exploiting the word in the year of our lord 2024, grow a pair and stop fighting an invisible brick wall. if anything you’ve seen, ppl are encouraging OP to go anyway while recognizing the seriousness of the illness if they had it bad. stop politicizing everything you cornball 🤓

Good thing everyone is vaccinated since its mandatory so i doubt anyone would get the disease let alone die from it. Which is why I said it's just a flu now.

Why do you associate yourself with politics so much? It's Australia not America, politics here is dry as hell and irrelevant 🤦‍♂️

Has nothing to do with america. Just the fact that some people still think covid is a serious disease in 2024. Testing for covid in 2024 is just ridiculous, given that we haven't recieved test kits from school since 2021.

Clearly OP thinks it is to be testing for this disease anyway. The RAT test is also very unreliable.
Yea but its good to test because if you get really sick a positive covid test makes it so much easier to apply for an illness misadventure or get it accepted I should say. You can just blame it on covid and sit the test out if your illness gets severe 🤷‍♂️

(stop editing your messages you can see the original message in the above quote anyway 🤦‍♂️ )

except ppl do get the disease still and die from it, it’s just not on a pandemic scale anymore. since when do flus lead to long covid or any nasty long term health issues?

read up. not everyone could get it because immunocompromised and vulnerable populations. except ur not going to read any of this cause ur full of shit regurgitating stupid hypotheticals

anyhow nobody was saying the guy is responsible for any of this. we just looking out for them in case so there’s no issues when they sit their exams, but its unlikely to individually be a problem for them.
