Eating a dog or cat is just self-harming yourself and putting others at risk. Dog meat has multiple viruses in it and is generally not safe to eat, similar to cats. You are just ruining your life and others, by gaining diseases and spreading them. Chicken and Beef do not pose any health risks as most meats are prepared in safe ways, unlike dog, which even if prepared safely can have negative health effects. Thus my point is proven.
i will add that a few zoonotic diseases can be transferred by the consumption of cow meat

😐 Mate, it gives you diseases that are easily transmissible. So put other people at risk for your own pleasure is not unethical. It is also inhumane to slaughter and kill dogs and cats. If that is not unethical than idk. When did I declare victory, but I still proved my point. Toxocara canis is a big issue to those countries which consume dog and spread human to human. The KFC argument was a mid effort at a rebuttal. Thus, I further prove my point.
i googled this and mostly toxocara canis is transmitted via contaminated dirt that came in contact with the waste of infected animals. it also looks like that transmission from meat is rare, and primarily comes from raw or undercooked rabbit and lamb. i searched 'toxocara canis dog meat' on google scholar and the closest thing i could find was that owning a dog increased your risk of toxocara canis.

the people who are defending this practice and still saying that they wouldn’t eat cats or dogs, you’ve gotta ask yourself “why?”. what is stopping you? if it’s apparently morally the same as eating say a chicken, why won’t you eat a cat or dog?
therein lies the answer

ngl, idk where to buy dog or cat meat. I haven't researched much into it but I doubt I'd like the taste given I'm not particularly adventurous. Also, you can literally apply that logic to literally any food 💀. I don't particularly like the taste of pork and thus, won't eat pork. That doesn't make eating a chicken any different morally than eating a pig. I just dont fw the taste
For a non-animal example, I probably wouldn't eat brussels sprouts {a literal plant} and prefer chicken. A lot of people feel the same way. Does this make eating chicken more morally acceptable than eating brussels sprouts?

I accept defeat
I apologise for my slightly brash language earlier mb

just personal choice, i dont want to because i dont actually like meat much and i know i would feel guilt. i know that feeling is irrational because i consider it moral, but i have a connection to cats so i wouldnt want to. i also dont fish because i know id feel bad for the fish. that feeling is irrational, i eat fish, but i still would feel guilt if i went fishing because i have a connection to fish because i own them. its just a matter of personal choice, and because a lot of people have connections to cats and dogs, but dont with pigs or sheep, even though they can be quite friendly.

I agree. However, their argument was very strong towards this statement: western upbringing. Dogs and cats have different values outside the West, thus they are consumed in those countries (not all just some). To me, it's still morally unacceptable, but that is heavily influenced by Western upbringing and I tried to argue against it saying perhaps the consumption of dog/cat meat is ethically wrong, or morally wrong, but there is not enough sufficient evidence to prove this.

i think its fine to still feel repulsed by it. its a pretty normal reaction, especially when you grow up with a set of values and also have a connection with dogs and cats

coz i aint inhumane to eat a pet...please don't ask any further stupid questions.
It's not considered a pet outside the west, additionally, there are wild dogs and cats too which lack ownership and are not generalised as pets and are eaten. Thus, the stupid thing to do is to make an argument that is ineffective and untrue.

What does being civilised have to do with eating a cat or dog. This is a dimwitted rebuttal, which lacks any sufficient factors on why cats and dogs should not be consumed. Hey, I wouldn't do it, but if someone wants to try it, there not really much to say when its not wrong.
