Long story very short my teacher left me resulting in me doing distance education. This subject is industrial tech and it involves a major work so when I first met the guy he basically assessed what I had done so far without telling me it was assessed resulting in a terrible mark for the first task. Now my rank in industrial tech is 12/18 but I am 1/1 in my focus area. I am very good at the content side of things and should kill the exam. Is it possible to redeem myself and my mark if I kill the exam? Because whatever mark that would have been entered to NESA is not reflective of my major work and content knowledge. Course mark is 67 and I don't like the idea of ppl above me stealing my mark cuz they ranked higher than me and stealing my hard work.

are you asking if you can still do well as long as you do well in the exam, or if you can get your rank changed?

how tf are they allowed to assess you like that? is there any chance of contesting your marks

uh if this rank and mark you just told us is your final internal mark and rank you can't do anything apart from contesting your marks internally on the off chance that your marks havent yet been sent to nesa. once it all gets sent to nesa its sent and that rank will used to moderate your hsc mark to produce your internal mark. if you dont manage to contest your marks then if you manage to rank higher you might miss out on marks for your internal mark but not for your actual hsc score which is 50% of your overall hsc mark. so you can redeem yourself in terms of your overall hsc mark

the major work makes up 60% of your external mark and the hsc exam 40%. if your major was bad, then i dont think the hsc exam mark will drastically change your mark. also the mark you get is reflective of your content knowledge, 40% of the internal weighting for IT assessments are content based. plus ur major is externally marked, so youd have to have a really biased marker to have ur mark not reflect ur major. if youre worried about people 'stealing my hard work' you could always help ur classmates with content so ur assessment ranks dont get moderated as harshly

I asked for rank and they only emailed back after the rank submission deadline to NESA was due, not much I can do now... But im asking if I do well in exam

Pretty sure its too late now. I asked for rank and they only emailed back after the rank submission deadline to NESA was due, not much I can do now... They are so slow when responding to emails.....

they dont mark them at the same time, but an external hsc marker does mark your major work. that major work composes 60% of your external mark, while the exam makes up 40% of your external for IT

Marks do not get sent off every term, they send off all marks near the end of term 3 and deadline was last week Friday in NSW HSC
yeah but typically if you dont contest within the term itself they don't give af. a lot of schools have policies so you dont contest in hindsight.

there was an issue i had in a prelim physics practical exam where the equipment wasn't working at all and they knew it was their fault but bc i didnt address it within a week of the exam i didnt have the right to contest anymore.

no they dont know who you are or what your mark got initially. thats why a lot of ppl doing courses like eng e2 get e4s internally and suddenly they get dropped to an e3 externally. but thats e2 eng and they have a lot of diff types of mediums to mark so marking is less controlled idk about industrial tech
