I memorised this essay for the 2023 HSC (and trials) and got a band 6, don't know the exact mark but it was one of my better essays I think. I hope this is helpful :)

While it is certainly possible to try memorising essays but I would certainly not encourage it . The HSC is designed to prevent memorising essays in favour of analysis . It is certainly possible but it is also a huge risk . Especially if they specify a particular poem or segment of a text in mod B which has happened regularly over the years. Certainly remembering motifs , quotes and themes is encouraged. The rest is up to you whether to risk it or not
