How should I be structuring my writing in English? Until this year (year 10) I have always used PEEL and PTELA but my school has started to get us to use IDEAS(identify, describe, example, analyse and significance). I'm unsure which one to use and need help.

Thanks?

I am not sure what PTELA anyhow.

You can use PEEL or IDEAS.

For PEEL in English stands for:

- Point
- Example
- Explanation
- Link

Without the example first there will be no explanation. In this case example is some reference to quote with which you refer to some literacy technique like metaphor or simile.

Obviously make sure you use more than 3 quotes in an essay. There should be some statement marking criteria regarding make various textual references.

For HSIE subjects you can use

P: Point
E: Explanation
E: Example
L: Link

or

Point
- Example
- Explanation
- Link

idk how to exactly describe it. but u don't exactly use a structure in good writing. u do what is best to promote flow.
having said that, whatever structure u use will have barely any difference imo.
