Hello my classes are
.Maths advanced
.Chemistry
.music
.english standard
.legal studies
.modern history (soon to change to P.D.H probably)

I need help on if i need to switch classes or not and are these classes good for ATAR and university (i have 2 weeks to switch)

Also dont know if i should go to a different school my school is ranked around 500 in NSW and there is a private school i could go to that is ranked around 200.

I would hope to either go to USYD, UNSW or newcastle university to persue some sort of science, and possibly something in music or film making.

If you can, I would suggest taking English Advanced as opposed to English Standard. You can type up on "Search" (Top Right Hand corner) on why English Advanced is generally superior and there is numerous arguments why. Overall I'll say you should choose it so you have the mobility to continue it or drop to Standard if you really despise it.

If you can, I'd always suggest trying Maths Ext 1, there's no real risk in starting at the course and if its not for you, you can simply drop down. I don't know you so I can't say you'll be more than capable for Ext 1 so my general advice is to start from the top and drop down if you don't like it. It is extremely hard to move from say Adv to Ext 1 if you do go to schools with cohort restrictions.

I'm sorry I can't say what the best subjects for you since I have no idea where your strengths are at, this is just the most general advice I can give that might help. For music/science degrees, the ATAR tends not to be too high, around the 80-90 range with exceptions to some specialised/advanced versions so your courses will suffice given you do put in a considerable amount of effort.

I would suggest you move to a 200 ranked school than 500, having a somewhat competitive cohort is beneficial in ensuring your motivated and on top - but it is not impossible to do well at such a school as there are people who hit 99s and come from low ranking schools. There also tends to be better facilities, more courses and more resources available to you as such schools do cater/have more experience to high achieving students.

All the best!

I've only went public schools really, no idea about private schools. I don't really see much difference when I spoke to some of my private school friends except that they pay way more for fees and stuff. Some private schools have extraordinary teachers that make the cost worth it and some are just normal. I wouldn't mind too much abt public or private IMO but someone else might have a different/more educated perspective having gone to both.

Yeah and if I was in your position I'd personally try to go to that 200 ranked school as for the reasons mentioned above, however it is more than possible to do well in such a school if you have the determination yourself so don't worry too much.

Really depends on what you like. Subjects you like will be subjects you will do well at.

Have you tried looking at textbooks/HSC papers on legal studies and biology? You should have a good indication of which one you prefer.
