what'cha studying?Wait that's one the same reasons I'm planning to go MAQU instead of UNSW. What are you gonna study next year?
Lol i'm considering doing that. But, I've kinda realised i'm not really doing it for the money + its really hard to find a graduate acturial job.Rn my main 2 courses is actuary Co-Op(If I get in lol) and actuary and science(probably more likely tbh)
Actuary Co-Op or Actuary and Science.what'cha studying?
I don't know about finding graduate jobs but I assume if you try your best surely you will be able to secure one. I reckon you should do it if you don't have any other options and enjoy maths or business or eco ya know.Lol i'm considering doing that. Yea i'm considering. All I know is if I choose it i'm gonna have to commit hard. So i'll weight up my options.I don't know about finding graduate jobs but I assume if you try your best surely you will be able to secure one. What else are you considering?Yea i'm considering. All I know is if I choose it i'm gonna have to commit hard. So i'll weight up my options.
Yea you just gotta get a distinction (lol easier said then done) and you have a good chance of getting in.
I've got civil (physics is fun lol), commerce, software and maybe economics we'll see. What else are you considering?
Yea you've got quite the spread. Good luck in choosing you're degree and hopefully I see ya next year.I've got civil (physics is fun lol), commerce, software and maybe economics we'll see.
Legit I have a lot of options I like a lot of subjects lol.
Yea mate hopefully I see you to. We seem to share similar interests lol.Yea you've got quite the spread. Good luck in choosing you're degree and hopefully I see ya next year.
Not for Medicine exactly, for science degree, most of them have advanced or abovethere's ext math prereq?
If you feel that you're ATAR is gonna be weak relative for medicine (<99) i recommend trying to aim for 95+ and grind for UCAT, focusing on the VR section, in addition to this start volunteering and try to participate in activities which you feel will cultivate youre leadership and figure out why YOU want to do medicine (outside of parental pressures), this is important for your interview. So first of all, screwed over my selective test. Go to a public school that isn't the best. I'm a competitive swimmer and spend most of my time outside of school swimming and tutoring. Its only come to me very recently that if I don't step up my game, I might end up working at McDonalds (or so my mum says).
My asian parents are pushing for me to become a doctor, but to be honest I'm more worried about getting a high ATAR first. For year 11 prelims, I scored around 80% for my electives. I'm not the smartest in the school, but I'm definitely not the dumbest either, I'm floating around rank 9-13 in my grade for each subject.
The subjects I take are Biology, Chemistry, Science Extension, Engineering, PDHPE and standard maths and english.
My english has always been substandard, but I'm slowly improving with the help of my english tutor. Because I'm an idiot, I dropped from extension maths to standard in year 11 because I couldn't manage my time and stress properly.
So what I'm trying to ask is : Am I doomed to get a low ATAR? is it possible to apply the same grindset I use for swimming to studying?
Not as high as it mythically seems. Most transitioning out just don’t like it and prefer to go down a more flexible track. The high dropout rate in acturial makes it cool.
Your right. I don't think its cause of difficulty but, people just choose the course for the money and realise its not for them. Not as high as it mythically seems. Most transitioning out just don’t like it and prefer to go down a more flexible track.
Also may I ask what jobs your looking to do with you econometrics? I'm looking at an economics degree with a focus on trying to get into the RBA or Treasury but, idk about the prospects. Not as high as it mythically seems. I’m not doing econometrics. If you want to learn statistics properly, do stats lol (which is what I do). Tbh the economics half (well, less than half) of my degree is just for interest and gives a fresh perspective - it’s also good not to stare at numbers and symbols all day. Also may I ask what jobs your looking to do with you econometrics?
