I'm stuck with this question,

Given a function f(x), what is the difference in meaning between calculating f'(x) and f'(1)?

Thanks,

f'(x) is the gradient/instantaneous rate of change, f'(1) is the gradient of the f(x)'s tangent when x=1. That's what I think.
