I legit feel like killing myself right now, I completely screwed myself over with my silly mistakes. I got 99 in trials and was confident in 3U but only ended up getting 3 hours sleep today because of anxiety, and I now I screwed over the exam with way more silly mistakes than I would’ve though. I’m really sad because 3U was the test I thought I’d smash. Stuff my life man, I feel too depressed

mate you did fine, you beat most of the state. hsc doesn't define you (as cliche as it sounds, it's true). you want to get into maths degree, you will get in and will do fine (i noticed you are very dedicated to maths with the paper you made etc). don't be depressed you have chem and physics to go just smash those

Cool down! That's a great mark and would align to like 95/96 which is a great mark, and either way as long as you get into your course which you most likely will why does it matter? You have years of uni life to prove yourself. It is just the HSC =) don't feel down about it.

Also for question 14cii, is using the concavities from the graph a solution? y=sinx is concaving down at x0. y=sin(x-a)+k is concaving up at x0. So therefore (after differentiating them twice) -sin(x0)=sin(x0-a)

Don’t think that’s a valid solution though, because there’s no way to tell if the concavities complete cancel out

Also, don't worry about your mark!!!! You did great! We still have phys and chem to look forward to.

Hey man, you're not alone. Quite a few people (myself included) didn't perform our best in today's exam either. Personally, I can't relate to setting the goal of achieving state rank (I'm not good enough in 3U for that HAHAHAHA) but I can certainly understand not meeting your goals. :/

I agree with the fact that your performance in this exam doesn't reflect on your overall math ability! After all, the external exam results will only be based on how well you performed on one day, in a time period with many other exams and the very huge hype that's placed on the HSC. It's a poor measurement of your math ability so if your HSC exam result falls short of your goals, seriously don't let it make you doubt yourself! I've briefly seen you around on the forums and I can tell you're someone passionate about mathematics. I believe you did well either way, an E4 itself already scales good!

I'm pretty sure they get counted as an outlier so no NESA won't count their mark iirc.

As for the paper. Question 14c seems a bit too easy? I got it out in about 2-3 minutes. Is that the general consensus?
