Welp, I screwed it
Anyone know what a mark of 54, 57 and 60 would align to roughly?
Dreams of 95 aligned ruined...?

Would 70 be enough for state rank? Also for ferris wheel question it doesn't matter whether Ur calculator is in degrees or rad because you are not using the trig functions to calculate your answer.

If you used the inverse trig functions to find , then radians would have been necessary.

That was a difficult paper so potentially even an e4 - comparing it to the 2009 and 2013 scaling. Easily upper e3 tho

Yeah I really would like an e4 (my brain is cooked and keeps calling it band 6) as we all would but it would be cutting it fine so who knows.
It's in the hands of the NESA Gods now.

To my understanding (which is rather limited IMHO), in part one we proved that there was a 90 degree angle (I forget the letters), then therefore the line is the diameter as angle in a semi circle is 90.

Any angle subtended at the circumference by the diameter is always 90 degrees. The converse is also true.

If you're ranked first then a perfect 70 is guaranteed state rank isn't it?

ahh anyone else super disappointed with how they went? Was hoping for a final mark of 97ish but i reckon 94 is more realistic now

Don't worry you're not the only one - I was hoping for an E4 but I think I will get an 85 at this rate (which is good but wanted to smash this exam you know?). I'm sure you will get 94-97. : )

Does anyone know what a raw mark of 49-54 would be? Sorry for the hassle!

A lot of people get 70 and have ranked first in their school. I'm not 100% sure how they determine it, but I think they look at your actual solutions and also look at your 4U/2U mark and compare that to other people

thanks i hope so, i feel that a 52 might be an e4 although i might just be overestimating the difficulty of the exam. Surely you would get above 85 even if you got 49 though???

a person in my school got 100% last year in e1, also first in course but didn't earn a state rank. Either the person didn't actually get 100%, but it was scaled that way or im pretty sure that they expect you to get close to 100% internally as well. Im pretty sure they don't look at your other tests thou.

i dont think nesa looks at your un-moderated internal mark either (the one the school submits) so that doesnt matter (if they did it would be unfair because of the varying difficulty of trials across different schools)

the kids that state ranked probably also did 4u and got a better 4u mark than him/her so they earned a higher state rank. on the nesa website it says they look at other extension courses to determine state ranks in the case of a tie

yea apparently alot of people get 100% in ext 1 so they actually look at your working out, and how suffiecently u answered the question, like the quick ways and shit

yeah same i had an estimate of 96 but at most ill scrape an e4 for the external mark

False information about the working out but yes heaps get 100% raw. The most sound reason why the person didn't get state is most likely because he didn't get 100 for his other math course.

Here's how state ranks work according the education board. Pay attention to step 3 for extension subjects.

If students are equal on the highest HSC marks in a course, then the following process is used to determine the recipient(s):

1. take an average of each student's examination mark and assessment mark after alignment to performance bands, each to one decimal place
2. take an average of each student's examination mark and assessment mark before alignment to performance bands, each to two decimal places
3. if an extension course, use the marks awarded for other courses in the subject area.
