Shoutouts to Pikachua975; if I get a band 6, it's thanks to him.

It was something where you had to analyse the work of Beadle and Tatum, their conclusions, and how their work related to genes and phenotypic expression as well as the use of a transgenic species as an example while applying Beadle and Tatum's work with phenotypes/genes to the example.

For that particular question today though I don't think you need to talk about phenotypic expression since it didn't say anything about it. You should be fine.

Our whole class was happy since we had the same question i trials

Also wouldn't the fungi protozoan question be both A and C since fungi can be unicellular while C is also correct

The inheritance question was X-linked recessive.
I-2 is given to have no recessive allele and he is unaffected (so affected individuals possess the recessive allele). He has children that are affected by the condition. Suppose the inheritance of the trait was based on the Simple Mendelian inheritance, this is not possible since the I-2 must pass on a dominant allele to all of his children and hence none of them should be affected (but they are). It can not be Y-linked for similar reasons (father and son must share identical genotype). If you test X-linked recessive, the phenotype of all children can be explained.
And that DNA replication question, I'm pretty sure the answer is D) if I remember options correctly. DNA replication is semi-conservative so the strand they showed would not be "copied", but rather complementary bases would be attached to it via DNA polymerase. Can't remember the wording correctly.
And fungi question, yea fungi can be unicellular but the more correct answer is probably the one about protozoans lacking cell walls.

When I read that question you posted in a different thread, I noticed something like that was in none of the past papers, so I asked my teacher to go through a question like that.

That's true for the fungi protozoan question. I chose the cell wall one since some fungi can be multicellular; didn't want to risk it.

GUYS
Does anyone know if its true that for each question if you want extra writing space you get an entire new 3 page writing booklet. I had like 3 minutes left to do a question because I had to fix up my answer and I just put it in one of the extra booklets I already had (the only extra booklet I had for the core) but for a different question and made a note. Is that a legit rule? Seems weird taking 3 page booklet to write a couple of lines.
Am I gonna get screwed :( ?

tbh im not sure something similar happened to me for paper 1 i didnt realise you had to write answers separately so i made a note that the question started on the previous page?? im hoping they realise

Rip,
I hope I'll be fine since papers get marked as scans and the question I squeezed in at the end had writing from a previous question above it on the same page so it should get noticed.
Hoping for the best lol

I found the exam alright, but the amount of marks given to the questions felt off. Like the comparison of marine and fresh water fish in terms urine concentrations....
for 4 marks. I felt that question should have been max 3 marks

Easiest paper compared to other years tbh. 8 marker was easy and solid. The genetics option topic was really easy too, all it assessed were the regurgitate outcomes as opposed to the hard ones haha
overall expecting 85-90 raw. Hoping the b6 cutoff isnt too high xD, seems like everyones finding it easy :p
