Hi,
Do you have any advice/methods for improving vocab? When it comes to exams i dont go very far with using very complex/technical wording.
I've heard that its not only to indicate sophistication but it should be used in a way to be succinct.
What words would be good to have at your disposal in consideration to being berief and sophisticated?

Great question, to be honest using complex and technical wording doesn't help you achieve better marks because in English, the more straightforward you are the better in the sense you can explore complex ideas with simple words. Hence the better question is to ask how you can improve your written expression skills rather than necessarily adding unnecessary verbosity to your writing. It is very hard to give you an exhaustive or comprehensive list of words that are brief and sophisticated, because at the end of the day, it depends on the situation those words are being put in. Definitely have some connective words at your disposal, things like 'moreover, therefore, additionally, in contrast, similarly, comparatively, congruently etc" and definitely try to use synonyms WHERE APPROPRIATE, for example, in discovery, alternate words for this word includes 'exploration, navigation, journey etc"
In general, when you read novels, you could note down sentences with great expression/description and use it as a reference or inspiration when you write creatives because over time you will learn to write like those writing you wish to emulate. Best of luck

I might be wrong on this but I'll give it a shot
At apprxoximately 1 minute, there is a piece of paper which flies in the woman's face and the man "discovers" that there is lipstick on this (i.e. sudden/unexpected discovery and I guess the emotional discovery that the man is feeling "in love")
Emotional discovery of the woman leaving him as he is upset
At 1 minute 54 seconds, the physical discovery of him realising that she lived in the apartment opposite to his workplace
At 2mins 7 seconds, the rediscovery of her lipsticks initiates a catalyst to sending her some paper to get his love message across (through flying paper planes across the building)
Physical discovery of the plane flying down but not flying across as his love messages can't get to her
Emotional discovery of the woman leaving and him getting upset
Discovery of the last paper being on the mailbox
Discovery of all the paper planes (at 5mins 3 seconds) clinging onto him (the paper planes is a symbolism of his love for her)
Discovery of a flying paper plane (from the woman's perspectives) which leads him to her
Discovery that there is always hope in the most unfavorable situations

You don't really make notes for discovery. All you need to know is the rubric back to front and know how the concept of discovery is represented in and through texts and how well you manipulate it

When choosing related texts, I think it's crucial that you make sure that your related text fits the whole rubric perfectly (i.e. matches every single discovery dotpoint) just in case that the essay makes you talk about a discovery dotpoint you haven't focused on

You can pick ANY text as your related text and it's good to be unique (not do a common one) so the marker knows you have skills in choosing and analysing an uncommon related text (instead of picking a common one and getting all your quotes online) and also they won't know the text so you can change stuff if you need to.
Main thing when picking a related text is for it to be closely related to your prescribed text and if you're doing 2 themes for a prepared essay pick one that relates to those two. For example I'm doing motorcycle diaries and my 2 themes are nature and human experience so I'm going to pick a related text that fits those two themes easily which means it'll be easy to relate to motorcycle diaries in the essay.
