Just wondering but is UMAT actually compulsory if you want to do medicine. I feel that this is going to be too much work in the HSC year

Thanks

The UMAT is only necessary for medicine for universities which offer undergraduate medicine, however, some don't.

If are thinking about doing post-grad medicine, then the GAMSAT is will be necessary, you later apply to post-grad medicine with your GAMSAT results through GEMSAS.

So in the end, whether you do under-grad or post-grad medicine, you will most likely to do at least 1 of these tests as essential criteria to seek entrance into a medical degree.

HSC Biology is pointless generally speaking. Only do it if you think it'll help your ATAR, not because you think it's needed for tertiary studies (it's not, generally speaking).

USyd and Griffith Medicine don't need UMAT (USyd requires 99.95 ATAR). Most places do require UMAT, however.

Farrrrrrrrrrrrrr, usyd's a pain in the arse. Why 99.95 other than that they've got a very strong medicine faculty?

Which uni has the best MEDICAL SCIENCE degree (don't get confused with medicine)?

What are the similarities and differences between medical science and medicine other than medicine being more intensive, needing a higher atar, longer duration, etc?

The atar cut off is based on the extreme popularity of the course

Woah....Never know Med was this popular although I heard it's guaranteed you'll get a job but you're most likely going to end up in a rural hospital. Is this true?

Is it possible to do Med at UNSW without UMAT even though they require it?

This is Medicine, the academic and societal expectation should be that the University takes in the brightest students. It's 99.95 and a successful interview for undergraduate students at USYD Medicine.

Why would you expect anything less?
