Have a look for a unit guide. It may tell you recommended textbooks.

If you search for your course in the UTS handbook, and you click on a subject for example, "Chemistry 1", you're able to click on "Detailed subject description" and at the bottom of the page it'll tell you "Recommended texts".

It would be best to speak to your subject coordinator because apparently information might change each year and so you shouldn't completely look for the recommended texts in the handbook.
