I saw a ~50% improvement in speeds after replacing my modem/router combo. Was running off a D-Link from 2005ish and replaced it with a new Netgear.

Upload speeds are still cack though.

Might be deliberately shaped by your ISP though - I remember mine was in Australia.

I just moved house and whilst the new condo has an inbuilt cabinet with all the network cables/fibre point/etc in one tidy spot above the fridge, my master bedroom is outside the range of my main 5ghz wifi (despite the place being like 70 sqm). If I'm lucky and able to get a connection, my download speeds are in the <5Mbps range from my side of the bed (my fiance is slightly closer and she can get 10-15Mbps).

I resorted to using my second router as a second router for this network (and removing my DNS settings from there which I used for Netflix) so I can get a strong 50-100Mbps in the bedroom. But then for fun I thought I'd try hooking up my ethernet adaptor again in the master bedroom (love how it's prewired with ethernet ports in each room).

Tried using my new Surface Pro 4 in my bedroom connected to the router:

Currently downloading Cities Skyline off Steam at 15.1MB/S

Came across this at a local store advertising test their internet speeds so I tried logging in.

I'm curious to know what speeds other universities have...

At my friend's house and she just upgraded her internet to a new plan for $50/month in Singapore.

I really hope I can get something even remotely close in Sydney once I move back...
