Hey hey.

What did we all learn from our 3 terms of Preliminary that we will be aspiring not to do in HSC 2016?

For me, I learnt:
1. To not take a shortcut and pick up English Extension 1 so I could fulfill the 12U requirement so I could have 11 hours of frees rather than enjoying Legal Studies - even though I can't change anything now, I realise that I should've opened up my chances more so dropping would've been easier

2. I should probably prepare notes and consistently study even if I don't have an exam

3. I'm pretty bad at the simple maths in Physics, only because of the concepts, the maths itself isn't hard - so I'll be learning to attempt to fix that by practising

4. Even though it was just Preliminary, I shouldn't have given up and been chilled halfway through the year because things weren't going well for me

5. Having a cleaner workspace will make studying more productive because I wouldn't be distracted with wanting to clean my room LOL

Year 11 maths is way better than any of the maths in 7-10.

For me:
1) I'll be writing summaries of dot point right after we do them in class, and ordering my notes as we go, not the day before the exam.

2) I'm also planning to write something every week in relation to English (and Geo whenever the mood strikes me) cause i need to practice writing essays.

3) Practice melodic dictation more than once in a blue moon :p

Let's see if this will actually happen- I think by May I would have given up, but let's see.

Things I learnt?

Just keep drinking coffee and everything will be all good

(don't try this, or you will become a coffee addict like myself)

Things i learnt in prelim:
1) Start assignments when I get them, don't wait till 2 days before to start
2) revise math topics so that I actually know what is going on in the test
3) keep up with h/w, especially english
4) practice essay writing weekly
5) be more picky about who I go with for group assignments

My English department makes us write our names instead of our BOS number in both year 11 and year 12 so it's very hard to achieve high marks unless you're in the top class and/or have a good relationship with the teachers.

EDIT: I'm not butthurt in saying this, my English teacher said it's because they have trust in those people knowing that they will perform in the HSC and so it's better for the school if they allocate those marks to those students. I'm not saying it's impossible to score high marks being an ordinary student, it's just that the markers only allocate 20's/19's to those in the top class only.

1. Listen to my bio teacher and write summaries throughout the year to make exam study a LOT easier.
2. Don't push myself too hard.
3. Don't listen to people whine when I go better than them cause they're just jealous. Enjoy it.
