Why is it considered good if subjects are based one's ability to rote learn / memorise?
What do you mean? I don't think anyone thinks a subject like that is good (COUGH BUSINESS).

That doesn't explain why it's good.
Well, what's your view then?

I don't know, I think RoT said hard work (in memorising) via rote learnable subjects gives certain individuals a chance of doing well, but in my opinion, that logic is flawed because you can work just as hard in understanding (plus, it's less time consuming).

Like, you could try rote learn absolutely everything in the hsc (which is bad), but there comes a point where one needs to use some of their critical thinking ability as well.

I'd argue that the hsc is about how much relevant content you absorb via rote learning, and the application of said knowledge via critical thinking.

I really think there should be more subjects in the HSC.

Apparently because my biology class is behind in the last core topic we have to come in every Sunday for three hours to finish it! That is like the only day I can sleep in lol

Idk, maybe it gives those a chance to do well in the hsc if they're not naturally good at subjects which necessitate intellect?
Like? I mean practise and/or memory is pretty much the key in doing well across all subjects. Depends on how you define intellect, but I can't think of a single subject in which a naturally talented person would beat someone who studies smart consistently.

Oh, sorry I should've clarified earlier (poor phrasing on my behalf). What I meant was that it's definitely possible to do well in subjects through smart and consistent study as a result of hard work, but irrespective, natural ability shouldn't be disregarded. Obviously if one doesn't study properly despite having strong intellect, then yes, said individual won't do well and the hard-working person will. But the thing is, if person A just studied smart and consistently whereas person B studied smart and consistently and has natural ability, then person B would excel at a higher standard than person A.

As for your question, for me, I believe 4U is the best subject when it comes to testing any critical thinking/natural ability but the sciences (especially Physics) are not too far behind.

InteGrand we need your opinion on these threads more often :D

Quick question to the 2015ers though:

How long should I be relaxing post-trials?

I finished on Wednesday and have been watching movies like there's no tomorrow ever since. Would Monday be a good time to get back into routine?

Start tomorrow. In 58 days and 10 hours English Paper 1 Starts. That is approximately 8 weeks. That is not very long. Every day matters. You have already had a short break since Wednesday, you can watch movies after HSC.
