Don't know if there's a central list on the CA website for Newcastle alone but there are a few firms both small and large in Newcastle. You might need to research on your own but at least one of the Big 4 are there and I know they offer cadetships.
PwC have an office in Newcastle, but I have a friend there and they said they stopped the Cadetship program in Newcastle a year or two ago because of the drop out rate, which is really disappointing.
I'm just finding a lot of firms don't really advertise their Cadetships a lot on their websites. Do you know where they post them when they do come up and around what time?

Basically it all revolves how much you put into using your hours to socialise or just go home and rest after work - it comes down to prioritizing as someone mentioned above.
When there's a will, there's a way.

Can anyone tell me how many days and hours cadets are expected to work and how much it will impact social and uni life?
Depends on how you balance your time how fast you go through it. With my current arrangement I'm expected to work 4.5 days a week with 9-5pm work hours (I occasionally work overtime though it's mainly my choice since I'd be meeting up with a friend in the city at 6-6:30pm and whatnot). You do have to make quite a few sacrifices socially because you're pretty much working full time compared to your friends, but it is still possible to maintain it I guess. But yeah you pretty much start understanding how valuable weekends are tbh.

With uni it really depends on what you're looking for, like I'm sure you could be involved in a society (one of the guys I work with is a director for a uni society) and participate in case comps if you wanted to, so yeah. Academically it doesn't really seem like too much of a problem because Commerce isn't as strenuous as other courses but that's just my opinion.

If I were to compare me now to me before not much has changed except I've sacrificed more sleep (though for other reasons than the ones mentioned above), go out less and I play less LoL

Playing less LoL is not a sacrifice. ;)

It was satisfying getting my first paycheck and being able to afford a Nintendo DS Lite.

The month after I bought a PSP.

And then a few months later I bought an Xbox 360.

Do it! If you find accounting interesting or want to work in the field it'll be a great head start :)
I have the interest in the advisory and consulting field.... I am thinking to apply for BDO,ICT Government Cadetship and mayb EY (which I very doubt I would get in)

Why do you doubt getting into EY? I don't know if there are many/any cadetships for Consulting but there are a decent amount out there for Advisory.

Never heard this before, but as far as I know the bigger firms don't have as much of a focus on your marks than smaller firms and also take into consideration all your Extra Curricular Stuff. Considered applying for other Big 4's?

Hey guys,
Just wondering how many different types of cadetships there are. I can't seem to find that info anywhere. I know accounting is definitely an option and here also seems to be engineering/ technology. Anything else..?
