I see this term used alot on the forum, what does it mean? How does it differ to the HSC mark? Does the marker find the average of your raw mark and HSC mark to get your final mark? How do I know my raw mark?

The raw mark is your actual mark in the HSC exam before aligning takes place.
The only way to know your raw marks is if you buy them after you receive your HSC results

The HSC mark is a combination of your exam mark (50%) and your moderated assessment mark (50%)

In chem 90 raw was 94 aligned this year unfortunately lol, which was my mark.

Raw mark is simply the well, raw( unaligned ) marks you get in the exam, if they counted x marks, you get x marks as a raw mark (it is a term thrown out so people know approximately what you need to get certain exam marks (aligned marks). They will align this based on the difficulty/other factors of the exam and you will receive this aligned mark (exam mark). This will be averaged with your MODERATED assessment mark to give you your total HSC mark (which determines which band you get). So you can't get a b6 just for getting say a 100 exam mark but only a 70 assessment mark, like commonly thought.

What do you mean by "moderated" assessment mark? Well what is the assessment mark? Do you mean the internal mark? I remember before people were speaking about internal and external marks, I know external mark is the mark you got for your HSC exams, well what about your internal?

Internal mark is what you received from your school assessments/exams. This mark represents a rank and is sent off to BOSTES which will then be moderated. Moderation of this mark is based off your rank and your cohort's performance for the final hsc exam. This becomes your moderated assessment mark.
